itching after sex

Yet another odd menopause issue: So, we rarely have sex as I have low to zero desire. When we do -- it is fine and all "goals" achieved. No pain or anything. But for days on end, afterwards, there is itching and discharge. It has been 10 days or so, and still -- itching and discharge. It happens every single time. I've gone to my gyno, who is completely useless because she's all about the OB part of her practice now and seems to know nothing about menopause. The gyn referral from my PCP can't see me until August.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Gyyno recs in DC that can help with this?

Try VH Essentials Vitamin C, or VH Essentials Odor Control (they are identical), for 1 day+ afterwards. To reset your ph. I buy individually wrapped applicators on amazon. VH comes with only 1 loose one in the box, kind of gross.

The VH will cause some discharge for a day or 2, bilut it's normal part of process

Boric acid suppositories. I was struggling with itchiness and my ob/gyn suggested to use these to restore ph balance which can get disturbed during menopause. She said to use it as directed and then occasionally for prophylactic reasons.

You might have a bit of internal friction happening. It can cause micro tears. Add a wee bit of lube even if you think you’re juicy enough. Also he needs to wash before sex and possibly be tested for yeast etc. especially if he’s not washing right after working out (they can do std swab then too jic). Sometimes it’s their body carrying the candida too.

Go to gyn or a clinic and get tested for trich, yeast, stds.

Are you using anything supplemental in bed (toys, lubes, etc?). I am allergic to pretty much everything we bring to bed, but the itching only lasts a few minutes.

The fact yours is lasting for days makes me think it’s a yeast infection that you BOTH need to treat to clear. Your PCP should be able to prescribe something for both of you.

Or he is cheating. This happens too. But while you’re looking for other signs, you should also see if it’s something simpler to address.

OP is he cheating? did your gyno do STD testing?

Thats me but its resolved with weekly Boric Acid suppositories. My system is very sensitive and when his saliva or sperm mixes, I get itchy. Even if its just saliva.

This-- boric acid suppositories are a life changer for this.

I'm going to third the boric acid suppositories. They have been nothing short of life changing. I probably had a decade of "yeast infections" that never cured and then several days of boric acid stopped it in it's tracks.

Me too! I have a weakened immune system so more prone to them, and life changer.
