No, it is not. Carbs are healthy, both simple and complex carbs. But sugar, on its own, is not. It is yummy but unhealthy.

Nothing is "healthy", some things are just less unhealthy than others.
Also, when speaking of carbohydrates, one must specify, as all carbs = "sugar", but often people use the word sugar to specifically mean sucrose from cane sugar. Carbs are ok in moderation for active people. The human body needs about 50-100grams of glucose a day, which it will make if you don't ingest any carbs at all. Most is used by the brain. |

DP, but I would yes. Abstaining from something is a sign of weakness, saying you cannot control your urges, so it's good for someone to confront it and learn to moderate it. That's better than just avoiding it. |

I find the sugar is essential to helping me eat a healthy diet. Lots of healthy foods don't taste that good. Sugar makes them taste better.
So does salt, and heat spices. Also fat, but unlike sugar and seasoning, fat is actually essential to a healthy diet -- your body needs some amount of fat. So sugar in a food with no other beneficial ingredients is unhealthy (like the sugar in Doritos, or candy). But like for breakfast this morning, I had a greek yogurt with granola, chia seeds, and mango. The mango has some sugar in it and helps sweeten the whole thing up, but you know what really helps? a couple teaspoons of honey. So I add honey and it makes the whole thing taste delicious and I actually look forward to it. Some days I make green kale smoothies for breakfast or lunch, and I have to add fruit and honey to these to make them palatable. But the smoothies are still very healthy. Some people don't like sweet, but then they have this same issue with salt or other seasoning. It is extremely hard to eat a healthy diet without including some amount of sugar and salt (I used both), so it's better to just find ways to incorporate these ingredients in moderation while ensuring the rest of your diet is mostly highly nutritious ingredients. Sugar is highly refined white sugar, I presume you’re asking about. It is absorbed by the body. When there is excess that the body doesn’t use right now (it uses very little), it is stored as fat cells. These can live anywhere on the body. Typically when a fat cell is created, it never goes away. Even if it loses its content, the fat cell exists, empty.
Insulin spikes in the liver as well when sugar is eaten. It can handle these spikes. But massive and/or frequent spikes, it will slowly not be able to handle. Diabetes or pre-diabetes. It has no vitamins or nutrients. (A little?) not anything compared to what you’d get in other foods. No fiber, no protein or fat. So, comparatively, it is not food to ingest any. Small amounts are manageable. Finally, sugars on the teeth allow bacteria to feed and grow. They feed on your teeth as well. Can be washed away with water or brushed away. |

Which is why I have started a daily regimen of arsenic and other heavy metals. Abstaining from poison was a moral weakness in my character. |
