Tropical Vacation in August

Anonymous
Any suggestions for a tropical vacation in August? Yes, I know it's a weird time but it's the only time we have - looking for a destination that has good snorkeling either via beach or boat, enough to do for teens, and good rentals for a family of six. We have been to Costa Rica and Belize so thinking more like Bahamas/Caribbean areas. TIA!!

As a risk management professional, I would never do this. Unless you have access to a private charter to get out of Dodge ASAP, you could potentially get stuck on a tropical island with limited resources in the event of a major hurricane. It’s not “a funny time“ to go it’s an irresponsible time to go.

We’ve enjoyed Aruba, we have a tween not a teen. It’s safe enough I’d be ok with teens walking around.
Pirate cruise has a rope swing and snorkeling.

OP here - I think Aruba is outside of the hurricane belt so that could be good, thank you! Any suggestions as to hotels or VRBOs/Airbnbs?

Fiji. Excellent weather in August. And the snorkeling/diving is astonishing.

Many islands close down July through August so you need to keep that in mind. Some hotels will be open, but many restaurants close for the Season.

Bonaire has great and easy snorkeling.
Fiji is great. Their late winter.

Hotels only

The others are no longer viable. I would not rent them now. We have before but the laws and costs are absurd.

Hyatt
Hilton
Ritz although not as good location.
RIU gross

We stayed at vrbo’s villa Mariposa Aruba. I can’t find a good link but it comes up on google. 3 bedroom villa with pool and private volleyball court. Absolutely wonderful stay!
