I see there are protections for transgender people in this bill that are positive. But NO WAY should the state be able to forcibly remove your custody of your children. If they feel you don’t affirm their gender identity, it’s child abuse. What about kids who may be confused and need professional help to work through if they truly feel that way. |
This will just drive Colorado more red, less purple. It is absurd overreach. |
Seriously: Republicans opposed the bill, saying it infringes on parental rights. State Rep. Jarvis Caldwell called it egregious. "The idea that misgendering your own child is considered coercive control which is another word for abuse? Child abuse? Because you want to get your child help instead of affirming their delusions? And you can lose custody over your child over that? This is the most disgusting bill I've seen so far," Caldwell said. |
This is the kind of thing that drove moderates to the right in the last election. |
You’re not a moderate at all if you side with such filth. Good riddance to trash. |
So forcing your child to be something they are not - a practice with ultimately results in suicide for 41% of the children subjected to it - is NOT child abuse in your eyes?!?! Shameful. |
You're not a moderate if this is what changes your vote. |
The Cass Review report found suicide did not decrease after transition. Suicidal behavior is high prior to blockers/hormones, as well as high after, because there is an underlying mental issue. This mental issue is what is driving suicide. Similar to an anorexic or someone who identifies as disabled and wants healthy limbs amputated (yes, this is real). There is a mental illness driving behavior. Also, years ago I was poking around reddit groups for adolescents who wanted advice on obtaining blockers/hormones. The kids were giving tips to claim you are feeling suicidal and then parents and medical providers are more likely to give you the meds to transition. It made my heart sink to see this manipulation. |
The focus needs to on fixing the mind, not affirmation. And suicide rates don’t come down with transitioning. This whole “would you rather have a dead son or an alive daughter” is manipulation and should not be tolerated. |
This suicide myth needs to stop. |
I can’t believe Dems are still doing this. |
This is a good example of a thought-stopping technique used to promote propaganda and brainwashing. The name calling and us vs them, black and white thinking is making Americans dumber, and it's part of why we are at this particularly tragic moment in US history where we can't have real or productive conversations about policy. Because addressing the policy is too hard, you instead launch ad hominem attacks and hope something sticks. This is the kind of thing that Marjorie Taylor Greene and Karoline Leavitt do every day. |

I'm on the left- I think this is overreach. The problem is that neither side has approached transgender issues rationally or with any nuance--both sides claiming the other is deliberately causing harm and each side using it in a culture war.
So here we are. |
Republicans favor child abuse.
It would be legal to beat your children, regardless of gender, if Republicans were in charge. |
