| Thanks to the administration I just lost my job. I’m freaking out & don’t know what to do. I am a single parent with no financial or physical support from my ex. I’ve never lost a job, always moved on my own accord. I’m terrified. |

Im so sorry 😞❤️

I'm so sorry. I assume you are doing all the right things to find future employment, so again, I'm sorry that you are going through this. No words- this administration has been destructive and harmful to so many. |
| File for unemployment today. Beef up your LinkedIn and resume and start looking. |
need more context, what are you skills, what is your job, are you a fed or contractor? What are you looking for support, advise, encouragement? |
I won’t give too much away as people will be able to figure me out, but think workforce transformation, education, etc. I am pretty flexible. I have my masters. If all else fails I can go back to teaching but I really really don’t want to. I don’t know what I’m looking for I’m just so scared. My car is a few months from being paid off. I still have years on my mortgage. I’ve been applying to jobs basically since December and I’ve only had one interview. |
I am sorry. Can you give us an idea of what field so maybe we can help? |
| I am so sorry. What type of work do you do? |
The people need to let all their political representatives know just how hated and despised Trump is, and let them know THEY will suffer at the polls if they do not take EVERY measure to rid the country of this despotic, cruel IDIOT. He is destroying the country when he needs to be out of office and in PRISON. |

I am sorry to hear.
"workforce transformation" What exactly is this? What is your background? HR? Financial? Please don't knock teaching. It is a concrete role that addresses a clear workforce need, unlike many positions focused primarily on soft skills. Perhaps consider more practical roles like: HR Business Partner; Project Manager; Talent Acquisition. |
| OP if you have a teaching certificate, I would seriously consider getting hired for the 2025-6 school year. You’ll still have time to look, but you’ll have a solid backup plan in place. You can look for another job from a teaching post, too. Since you’re the head of a household, you need security. Teaching is that. Take advantage of the timing. |
+1 you gotta do what you gotta do to pay the bills. I'm sorry. This sucks. I've been laid off before, but at least I was in my 20s with no kids or mortgage, though I did have car payments. Can you rent your house out for more $$ and rent a cheaper place? Is that an option? That may be a more long term strategy if things don't work out and you become desperate. |
Or rent a room out in your house or basement out for income. Maybe start tutoring especially for the summer. So 😞 Look around for a summer nanny job maybe. |
|
I don't see a reason to panic. You have MA, you have a work permit, you speak English, you don't seem to be sick, you have many options to keep afloat and even thrive.
I know illegals who don't speak English, have no education, and shouldn't be working at all. They work two jobs and not in DCUM. See what happens when you have options: you don't want to be a teacher/nanny/work at mikidees and you are choosing to freak out. |
I would substitute teach if you have the certificate until you find something else. Look at a leave replacement for the rest of the year maybe? That way also if something comes up FT and you haven't found anything you could start teaching or maybe take over a parental leave or something. A relative works at DCPS and has excellent benefits and decent pay. If you have a child this might be a good idea especially with summer's off and a pension. PWC has Workforce transformation careers, apply there Seed Foundation has a couple roles up Posse Foundation University jobs Teach for America and City Year have actual staff jobs around the country |
