Vance shunned by Pope Francis?

So is it true that JD Vance was shunned my Pope Francis for representing his country’s treatment of “illegal immigrants”?

These two men should not be in the same sentence, much less room.

I don't know whether Pope Francis shunned JD or not but I applaud him he he did.

JD will be shunned by more people soon enough. I suspect by his wife and own children before long. I can't believe I ever liked the man.

DOGE needs to visit the vice presidents office. Taxpayers are spending a lot of money sending Vance to places where he is not welcome.

One of the pope’s big initiatives is supporting migrants. He’s also recovering from major illness so that softens the blow a little for JD. “Doctors orders” to keep meetings to a minimum while he’s still recovering- even though he managed to meet with King Charles a couple weeks back. Oh well!

Apparently they did meet today. Yesterday the pope had someone else do an extended session with JD, then today:

I believe Trump had a similar practice in meeting with leaders like Kim Jong Un, President Xi, etc... as well as other politically controversial people, but was lambasted for doing so.

I am Catholic. If you were, you would know that "a good Catholic" is not a thing. Certainly not a title a random internet poster can determine.

I am happy that the Pope met with JD Vance. He will speak frankly to Vance about the horrific things this administration is doing. This may be the one time, Vance will willingly agree to listen to anyone who criticizes his views.

I will not judge whether Vance is a "good Catholic" or not. But I will say, that besides disobeying the Supreme Court and disregarding our Constitution, JD Vance and the Trump administration are going against so many parts of Catholic teaching that I can't possibly list them. I'll leave it with just this one: Catholic teaching emphasizes the dignity of all human life.

A. Trump is not the pope or even the equivalent of the pope.

B. Trump is an authoritarian and has expressed admiration for other authoritarians, so it is completely consistent with his beliefs and practices that he meet with other authoritarians. The controversial people that Trump meets with, other than authoritarians, are Maga or Maga adjacent so that also tracks.
