Very solid premed program. Why are private school kids (and their parents) skipping this school?
Rochester is similar to Case Western, strong premed, freezing winter. But Rochester is quite popular in our private. Just wondering why. |
Assuming you are the private school/Tulane poster too. What's your deal? |
|
Because they already have their own K-12 private that feeds into it. In fact, it's located on Case Western's previous campus before they expanded: https://www.wra.net/
|
That doesn't explain it. Last year there is only one wra student accepted to Case Western. https://www.wra.net/academics/college-counseling/college-counseling-at-wra |
I’m from Cleveland and never really thought of WRA a feeder to CWRU. I think Cleveland is the drawback. Most DC area kids do not want to be in Cleveland. |
| WRA is a rich kid boarding school for students not smart enough to hack it at the New England schools. Their financial aid is much more limited than other boarding schools, so it's really a pay-for-play sort of school. |

My private school kid applied to Case as a safety.
Got in EA with $$$ |
| Location. Many great midwestern LACs struggle with their yield too. Rochester also has an open curriculum so I bet they get a lot of applicants that want to attend Brown, but obviously it’s so hard to get into. Not many open curriculum national universities, most are liberal arts schools. |
| Yeah I also think it’s location. My kid likes it there, though. |
|
My DC is a private school student. We visited Case and they didn’t vibe with it right away and also didn’t love Cleveland. It’s a great school but not a fit for DC.
Not sure their being a private school student correlates with not liking Case however. |
| Never heard of this private school issue with Case. Have heard about them throwing lots of cash at kids. Seems like a good school. Cleveland isn't the greatest but it is a city with sports, concerts, major airport, and not too far from home. You could do a lot worse. |
| Not popular at MCPS magnet either for some reason. |
| It's a very good school. People don't like Cleveland. But Cleveland is OK. |

My private school kid applied to CWRU, received significant merit, and it is in her final 3 (no final decision yet). It jumped up the list a bit with the February admitted students day (DC loved the snow, the University Circle area, and Little Italy) and the merit award.
DC is not pre-med, but I think for a pre-med kid it would be an excellent choice. |
Where else is your kid looking? |
