What is important to you in a hotel room?

Anonymous
I have to book some hotel rooms for different locations next month (mainly for leisure) and I am overwhelmed by the choices, plus I am picky.

The most important elements to me in a hotel/room in order are:

1) View - a bad view can ruin it for me if I am there for more than 1 night and I pick my room based on the view every time. This is the most important by far.
2) Walkable location to good/interesting places and restaurants if in a city, especially if no good hotel restaurant.
3) (Tied) No cold or modern interior and no rainfall shower (hate).

I read the reviews on Google and Trip Advisor before booking anything and look at the photos by customers. I see most people with bad review complain about service the most which I don't really care about much or they complain about cleanliness, which I guess I do care about if it is a recurring theme in the reviews.

Are these similar to what you look for?

Beyond the obvious cleanliness and comfort, location is the thing that matters most to me. After that, I usually want a balcony or patio. (Especially if traveling with DS). Then I'll care about view.

For the most part, we don't spend much time in the hotel so location tends to the the biggest deal. And we aren't picky.

We're usually traveling with elementary age kids, so our number one must have is a suite or similar. A refrigerator/kitchen is nice, a pool is great. Location is negotiable as long as it's in the general area, view is irrelevant.
