Melinda French Gates whining about her divorce

Anonymous
Is so annoying. Now she has a new book coming out in gory detail about her "grueling" divorce! She received over ten BILLION dollars. She has no problems and she needs to just shut up and fade away.

She needs emulate the grace of McKenzie Scott.

Money does not make it a good experience.

What do you care? It’s extremely easy to avoid.

Also not to be pedantic but she didn’t receive anything - it was hers.

+1 I glanced at the article she sent and she just said the divorce was a traumatic time. They were married for decades. I'm sure it was a miserable period, and that trying to divorce a billionaire must have been stressful.

I also get OP's point that who cares, she has billions and her life is sunshine and roses compared to nearly everyone else in the world. But Melinda Gates has tried to help poor women all over the world. I think she can both be highly privileged and have had a difficult time with her divorce without being labeled "whiny."

OP,

Money doesn't cure heart-ache. It doesn't prevent stress and panic attacks. I know, I have millions but suffer from a panic disorder.

Also, did you know that Bill deeply regrets his divorce? Called it the worst mistake of his life.

This break-up was incredibly painful for both of them.

Have some dammed respect, OP.

I am 100% sure that if you received this amount right now you'd still find plenty to whine about all throughout the remainder of your life.

OP--you missed the most interesting part of the People Mag article, which is that she has a new boyfriend/love in her life.

Yes, indeed. OP lacks empathy. No matter how much money someone else, it can still be embarrassing and mortifying to know that everyone in the world knew Bill Gates was cheating. And, their kids had to hear about it too in public.

You sound incredibly immature, OP.

Think about it. To a Rohingya on the run from the Myanmar junta, you probably have more money than God. Yet here you are, complaining about something. I'm sure you complain about stuff every single day of your life. To people living on less than a dollar a day in the bush, or in refugee camps of the world, ARE YOU WHINY?

See how that works? A little perspective goes a long way. We are all human with human emotions. Having money doesn't change that one bit.

Gates was a sleazebucket about it, just like Bezos. Must be incredibly painful to marry a world figure for love, have unlimited everything, raise a family, and not be able to expect decent, loving behavior in return due to your mate's giant ego. It crushed Princess Di. MacKenzie Scott rebounded to marry a high school teacher for a year or so. That's how badly messed up she was.

I have even less sympathy for Bill's whining or regrets.

OP,

You are right, nobody wants to hear the whining of a billionaire in this environment.

Melinda Gates is a cult shero on here though, so she gets a pass.

100%. Lose your whiney “eat the rich” underlying philosophy and take a deep dive into empathy. I have no money problems and divorcing an abusive man led to a suicide attempt.
