So why are we paying federal taxes?

When my child was young she once asked me what the government was for. I answered simply, "To protect us." I don't believe that is the case any longer now that we are in the "Golden Age" of Trump. If the government no longer: ensures our access to clean air and clean water; protects us from infectious diseases; pays for vital research to address major health conditions like cancer; protects from losing our civil rights; ensures the welfare of our veterans; or provides basic customer service for such important government programs as social security, and so on and so forth, then WHY ARE WE PAYING FEDERAL TAXES?

So that our gov can give 3 billion per day to wealthy corporations, while cutting down the 65 dollars per day, old grandma lives on.

Yup, if the GOP truly doesn’t want overreach, why don’t they put their money where there mouth is and eliminate federal taxes in DC. If all goes well, go from there. Bring it all back to the states.

Taxes are for little people. The Kleptocracy wants more, more, more. They’ll never have enough.

Call your representative and ask them that, OP. Also, call other representatives such as the Speaker of the House and the Senate Majority Leader. They are the heads of Congress, they are responsible and answerable to all of us. Ask them why we should pay taxes if they are going to just dismantle the federal government that provides us services. What is the justification?

Why are we paying taxes when the govt can print whatever money it needs?

Trump’s rounds of golf are expensive and the rich need law enforcement to keep the peasants on their land.

This is the long run goal— destroy govt enough so it works for no one and then get in a cycle of cutting taxes and cutting govt services.

With so many people fired at the IRS, odds are, you don’t really have to pay them. Seems like there will be no one to enforce the law. I felt a little bit like a sucker signing my return the other day.

The original reason was to fund essential service such as the military and protecting infrastructure, diplomatic relations and DOJ. Taking that definition would mean only DOD, DHS, DOJ, DOS, Intelligence and some NASA and HHS would be left.

These were not primary reasons to tax incomes.
