SAT score between 1520 and 1560, a GPA above 3.975, 7–8 AP exams all scored 5, with some involvement in sports and music, some community service, and some research/paper work.

| Rejected from all of the schools you mentioned. Yes, all of them. The public ones, the private ones, even the two LACs you mentioned. Rejected at all. |
| Major? Very solid but there will be many, many applications that look like yours. Depending on major, I'd guess T-20-30. Although you seem well-rounded, doesn't seem like any distinctive ECs or awards. |
| No one knows. Be happy with whatever you get. |
What schools were mentioned? |
Np. None. I think that was the point. If you want advice on specific schools, you have to name them. |

At our semi-rural HS, a white girl with this exact profile except a lower SAT score, got into Yale.
Geography matters a lot. |
Sure. If this is a typical DMV Asian kid, forget it. |
| Op here. Southern California suburb. |
tough demo. go somewhere where they want/need CA kids (Rice, WashU, CMU) |
| Cornell ED. Know an Asian boy with this exact profile who was accepted this fall. He’s from LA suburbs. Also know an Asian boy with the same profile from CT suburbs who was accepted to Columbia ED this fall. |

CS - State flagship. Agree that geography and demographics matter. |
The stats are good enough to apply anywhere. But not really seeing any stand out ECs, which may make things challenging. Would really work on essays and make sure the LORs are solid. Perhaps consider applying to schools where there are fewer asian boys - SLACS, Catholic universities. |
What major? UC does not discriminate against Asian kids but regardless of race some majors are extremely difficult to get into for anyone. Is 3.9 unweighted or weighted? |
