Mine is 140 and she’s 5’5” — she weighs about 20 pounds more than me, but she’s got at least an inch on my height as well. She’s “not happy with her body” she is telling me.
I’m wondering when she’s gonna hit a plateau. She got her period at 12.5 years old. |
You’re supposed to be 100 lbs at 5 feet and then 5 lbs for each additional inch. |
98lbs and she's 5"5. |
My son is 5’5” and 97lbs. He’s way too skinny, trying to put weight on him. |
~120lbs at 5’4”. She’s very/too lean and active with competitive sports. |
DS is 5'11" and 105. His father is 6'1" and has uncles who are 5'10" and 6'4" so we'll see how tall DS ends up.
Younger DS is 12, 4'11" and 69 lbs. |
He is 6'0 and 140 pounds.
Big brother was 5'10 (done growing) and around 160 pounds at 14. My dd at 14 had been fully grown in adult height and size for several years. 5'7 and around 150 pounds. |
5'6" 118. Active, does track. Is your DD active? |
volleyball twice a week but she barely breaks a sweat. she walks the dog 30 min the other days of the week. PE a few times a week at middle school. -OP |
I don’t know how much my teens weigh. I grew up with a weight-obsessed mother and it was not good for me. No scale in our house. |
When I was 14, I was 5’2 and about 112 lbs.
I am the same height and weight at 41, but my proportions changed. |
I would encourage more activity. Not to give her a complex about her body but sounds like she's not moving enough. |
I agree completely. But how do I encourage more activity WITHOUT giving her a complex? that's my struggle. she always says she's so tired. MS starts so early and she doesn't get enough sleep, school is draining, I get it. I hate to be the pestering mom especially when I'm smaller/lighter than her. -OP |
If she keeps overeating and not moving her body, she will continue to gain weight.
My 14 year old is a boy, eats probably 7 meals a day and weighs 118 at 5’5”. |
Mine was around 95 lbs. at 5' (done growing vertically).
If you think that she should move more, you can ask her if she wants to go to the gym or work out with you, or with a friend. IME, kids this age are influenced by friends, and if they have a friend to work out with, they're more likely to do it. You can also see if she wants to be more competitive with her volleyball, which likely involves cross training and adding a fitness routine to what she's doing. |
