A few colleges had their ranking downgraded from 2024 to 2025.
For example, Middlebury's rank dropped from 11 to 19. Why? Is Middleburry still in consideration? What are the implications of change in ranking? |
There's a whole thread on Middlebury and their ranking change. Don't start a new one.

The school didn't change. The ranking formula did. End of story. |
The current US news ranking is highly skewed toward DEI factors. I would look at their 2018 ranking as a sensible list. |
Is the new rankings a DEI rankings? |
The ranking formula is different every year, so a school's spot shouldn't be seen as "rising" or "falling." It's a different ranking every time. |
+1 USNWR has to change the formula every year to get people to talk about the rankings. Nothing about the schools has changed. Outside of broad tiers, rankings are pointless. |
No. |
Stop with the stupid ranking. They change all the time and have nothing to do with the quality of the schools. |
I think usnwr made a huge tactical error-in an attempt to make the rankings seem more modern they just let everyone behind the curtain to see that the rankings are incredibly flawed and in many ways arbitrary. |
In consideration for what? |
Who cares about Middlebury? It is a tiny school and almost no one from this area goes there. |
Lol so many bitter parents with kids at middling privates on this thread. |
Can the Middlebury poster put all 100 recent questions about the school in one thread? |
Ranking? Seriously? Middlebury is a tiny school in Vermont. |
