Will SEC escape RIFs due to large number of exits?

Half of my group is leaving. And some other groups too. Will we therefore escape RIF?

None of this is about responsible cost cutting. It is about revenge. And the SEC, in its great wisdom, brought a case against Elon just days before Trump’s inauguration.

I’m sure that people on this board know the details.

My GUESS: the agency is targeting a specific headcount (probably 2019 levels). They probably have 8-12 months to get there, one way or another.

Note that project 2025 says nothing about big cuts to the agency.

Oh please Elon had several SEC actions against him well before Trump was re-elected because he’s not a big fan of following rules about market participation

Nope, not safe yet, OP. Hang in there.

By the time any RIF is planned and executed, all the attrition will make it moot.

What’s a “group”? A division? An office? An AD group? How big is this “group” of yours, half of such is leaving? The details sorta matter here.

My “group” has 7 people. So half of it leaving does nothing.

If you’re not an SEC person, don’t chime in about workforce reductions at the agency. You’re a speculator and adding nothing to the thread.

Project 2025 also didn't dismantle USAID, yet here we are.

the sec should make Assistant Directors and the Chief of the office do case work as the non-Assitant Directors do all the work and heavy lifting

The managers in my group just set up meetings and sit on documents for months. They do none of the drafting or even reviewing. Never get comments from them on anything.

You obviously didn’t read it. They didn’t use the word “dismantle” but might as well have. In contrast, the small chapter on the SEC is boring and suggests minor reforms.
