Polestar's 'Trade In Your Tesla' $20,000 Deal Is Already A Hit

So if you have a Tesla and are looking to get rid of it this is one option.

Tesla owners are getting fed up with the brand. Polestar wants to reel them in, and it seems to be working.
Polestar wants to snag Tesla defectors.
The EV maker launched a $5,000 discount for Tesla owners who lease a Polestar 3.
The brand's head of U.S. sales said Polestar 3 orders jumped the week that deal ran.
Electric-vehicle maker Polestar wants to capitalize on growing discontent around Tesla. Apparently, it's working.

Last week, Polestar announced a special $5,000 discount for Tesla drivers looking to lease the company's new Polestar 3 crossover. With that deal and another $15,000 of incentives to lessees, Tesla owners could get a $20,000 lease discount to become ex-Tesla owners.

On Friday, the brand's U.S. head of sales said in a LinkedIn post: "This week saw some of the highest order days for Polestar 3, and the response to our Tesla Conquest Offer has been incredible."

Polestar is a Chinese company. In case anyone feels strongly about US competitiveness.

Polestar is the same company as Volvo.

It's a little more complicated. Polestar is listed on the Nasdaq (PSNY), and Polestar is a joint venture between Geely (Chinese) and Volvo (Swedish, but now owned by Geely). Anyone can buy Polestar's stock.

It's also worth pointing out the Polestar 3 (but not the Polestar 2 sedan) is assembled in South Carolina.

Well, I don't care anymore now, so that's on the table. The more Tesla tech China has, the better.

Teslas’ fork in the road. Good riddance to the pinto of our times.

We have a Polestar 2, FWIW. It's awesome - best car I've ever owned! Yes, made in China, but feels like a Volvo in terms of quality. We've had it for almost three years with no problems at all.

Why would I lease a car?

Just got a Polestar 3 and took advantage of this offer. The car is incredible and so much better than the Tesla. Not even close.

Tesla makes its money with emissions credits. 3 billion this year straight to the bottom line. Wonder if that will be killed when the EV tax credit and Trump shuts down the new EV plants in Georgia and South Carolina?

That could save the US a lot of money.

PP. I know a lot of people don't care. Which is why I just raised it as a short statement of fact.

However, there are upcoming regulations about some kinds of car parts from China being prohibited for national security reasons. Also I personally believe that offshoring engineering and blue collar assembly jobs has contributed to the rise of MAGA.

Right now we are dependent on China for assembly of a lot of advanced technology. Not a great place to be in, geopolitically.

Hi there. I have a Volvo EV. I love how it drives, however it has some very annoying electrical snafus on a regular basis. One is "Backup camera is unavailable." Another is Spotify just won't connect for like 5 minutes. Another is that when I go into reverse my mirrors don't tilt downward, which is a setting I have activated. These things annoy me just enough that I may consider not getting another Volvo EV. Does the Polestar have these issues? Or is their programming/electrical a different system entirely than Volvo?
