I feel like I’m in an alternate universe. But 10 yrs ago I would have laughed if you told me Donald Trump would win two terms of Presidency as a conservative republican. Strange times we are in.

Yeah it’s not a coincidence but a product of the aforementioned strange times.

What are Platner’s “personal ties to Israel” that you mentioned?

Extended family is Jewish. A stepbrother lives in Jerusalem and is a senior correspondent and news analyst for Jerusalem Post. While this doesn’t necessarily make him “pro Israel” I doubt he would actually take a hard line against Israel either

Amazingly, JPost covered that but skipped the part about is brother working at JPost!

People are concerned about Maine because Senator Collins is very beatable. But Maine Democrats have chosen a very flawed candidate - from Nazi tattoos to domestic issues to lying about his background to mocking wounded soldiers and so on - and fear that Collins will win and allow Republicans to keep the Senate. So the Maine race is high stakes for everyone in the country. I think every sane person wishes that Democrats in Maine would have chosen a stronger candidate.

What we keep telling you is that most people in Maine are not wildly troubled by his flaws. He’s got plenty of support here at home. It’s everyone else who won’t drop it.

Yes. I find all of this highly amusing considering many Trump voters said they voted for Trump ONLY because of the issues, and in spite of his awful character. Democrats piously slammed that explanation and painted all Republicans as nasty people because of their decision to vote for the issues rather than the person.

Here we have Democrats doing EXACTLY the same thing. They want a Democrat, so that's who they're voting for regardless of this dude's repulsive history. So I'll just laugh the next time some idiot criticizes the people who voted for Trump. The left has proven (yet again) what utter hypocrites they are.

What women allege abuse? The Zionist heritage foundation staffer?

That you think this is a reason to disbelieve Platner's ex-girlfriend simply reflects on you. "Believe all women," my a$$.

Platner is not running for president. As flawed a human being as he may be, his election in a state primary does not have the disastrous worldwide negative consequences that Trump’s election to the US presidency has had and will continue to have.

Voter bamboozled by slick politician. More news at 10.

Except he isn't a politician, but Susan is.

He is now.
A year or so as an oyster man who sells all his oysters to his mom's restaurant.
Went to very expensive prep school,
Said he got a VA loan. Maybe he did, but he didn't use it. Dad "loaned" him the money.
Gets VA disability. Some reports say 100% disability (not common.)
Nazi tatoo. Claims he didn't know it was a Nazi tatoo but also claims to be a history buff. Reportedly, could not rejoin the Marines because of the tatoo.
Sexting other women within the last couple of years while newly married. Even goes on a website known to be used also by minors.
Wrote on social media that he joined the Marines in order to kill people.
Meanwhile, says that Collins voted to send him to war (even though the war began two years before he enlisted.)
Said very ugly things about other soldiers.
Troubled relationship with women.
Says he was saved by grade---even though some of the sexting appears to be quite recent. And, lots of recent lies.

Great politician! Convinced people to vote for him. What more could you ask for?

Your first statement is a KellyAnne Conway lie, but even if true, so what if he sells to his mother's restaurant? If you had a family business, you would be want to keep as much in the family as possible. First, he began working on the water as a shellfisherman in 2018, not 2025 as you erroneously stated. And second, according to Google, he sells to restaurants other than his mother's. Maine Senate candidate and oysterman Graham Platner sells his oysters locally rather than shipping them out. His primary customer is the Ironbound Restaurant and Inn in Hancock, Maine, which is owned by his mother. He has also occasionally supplied a few other select Downeast Maine retailers, including traveling raw bars like Jolie Rogers Raw Bar and the Frenchman Bay Oyster Company itself. Information courtesy of a quick Google search.

He attended a prep school for one semester. Why do you keep harping on that, it makes absolutely no sense. You make is sound like a crime to send your kid to a good school, which is utterly weird coming from a DCUM crowd.

Again, he did four combat tours of duty in war-torn areas, three in Iraq and one in Afghanistan, and you begrudge the fact that he obtained a VA loan, or do you begrudge that his father was able to loan him money for a home? WTF are you people?

The Nazi tattoo is discerning, but I bet if you showed that tattoo to 100 people, 80-90% would think it is just another rendition of skull and bones. What do you mean he could not rejoin the Marines? He did 4 combat tours, so obviously, they kept sending him back out to be cannon fodder to die. He spent four years in the Marines from 2003-2007, and an additional four years, 2009-2012, in the Maryland National Guard, where he was deployed to Afghanistan.

I don't care about his sexting, that's between him and his wife. Isn't that what Republicans have been saying for decades about their candidates infidelity issues? I have not read or heard anything about him engaging with minors, but based on the other falsehoods you've posted, I'm skeptical. What do you think about the 13-year-old who gave a deposition accusing Trump of raping her? Or the new Epstein files that just revealed that Trump knew that Epstein was using Maralago as sexual trafficking?

Unfortunately, I think the vast majority of enlisted Marines have a kill fetish. That's why the Marines love them.
Collins voted to send young, stupid, gung-ho, ready to fight and kill boys to war. Where's the lie?

Said very bad things about other soldiers. The POTUS told a grieving wife that her husband knew what he signed up for. He told a Gold Star father that military people were losers and suckers. He told John McCain that he did not like soldiers who got captured. They were losers.

He is not a politician by trade or nature. He has made too many mistakes to be a politician. Give him a couple of election cycles, and he will be polished and FOS just like all the rest.

As to prep school, he was also on scholarship. And that takes guts. As someone who went to private school on scholarship (not a bougie one but still private), and had to work in the kitchen, I understand what that takes. Do you (poster above this one)?

DP. There is zero evidence he was a scholarship student. Why would you make this false claim?

I'm the poster you're responding to. He has said it multiple times. I know i've personally heard him say so on several podcasts where he was interviewed.

So take your accusation and stickit.

Nope. He wasn't a scholarship student and again, there is zero evidence that he was. You're making the claim, so you provide the evidence. I don't care what he's "said."

He also lied about the reason he went to Hotchkiss, claiming his local school wasn't accredited anymore. He's a complete fraud.

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Graham Platner’s hometown high school never lost its accreditation, contrary to a claim that the progressive once made to explain why he attended private institutions.

Platner said on an October podcast that Sumner Memorial High School in Sullivan was unaccredited around 1999, leading his parents to send him briefly to the upscale Hotchkiss School in Connecticut and later to John Bapst Memorial High School in Bangor. But Sumner has been accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges since 1987, the group said.

Oh, poor little you. Whenever you're met with posters you want to silence, just accuse them of being from a "troll farm." You are a complete moron to believe anything this revolting person says. But, it's not surprising that you do.

Pp is just trying to confuse the issues.

We all know what platners greatest sins are. And they’re not an old tattoo or mean behavior with one girlfriend

Unless you live in Maine your opinion of him is moot and, obviously, the electorate voted overwhelmingly for him.

I don’t disagree and fwiw I would have happily voted for him if I lived in Maine. I don’t. But I find the attacks on him very troubling, including those from my hometown newspaper that sees fit to publishing a scathing piece on him almost every day for the last several weeks. You’d think he was more important than the president himself.

DP. I'm quite sure that you'd be applauding your hometown newspaper on their scathing pieces if Platner was a Republican.

How the PP can't recognize this is astounding. Surely there were other possible candidates?

All of your statements are laughable exaggerations.

DP. In what way? All of the things in the PP have been widely reported. Are you trying desperately to rewrite the narrative here?

Many people wish that Republicans would’ve chosen someone other than Trump from the large field of presidential candidates in the Republican primary when Trump first ran. But here we are.

Indeed, but this thread isn't about Trump. It's about the gross guy in Maine.

Sure. You can keep saying that but we all know that if this guy was a Republican, you'd be cheering on all the reports of his sordid background. So let's just stop the hypocrisy, shall we?

No doubt there were. But there were also plenty of candidates when Trump first ran in a republican primary. It didn’t make any difference. Apparently populists are very attractive to some voters, whether they’re on the left or the right.
