SSFS HOS leaving

The closing off the boarding program has been characterized by none of these.

SSFS is doing a tremendous job recovering from the slow burn impact of COVID and RG.

Our family had been at the school for 8 years and well before RG’s tenure. The teachers are fantastic and my child really misses them but it was just too much (money and change in the school) for us. I truly hope the school can get back to its roots.

Wondering where you and other families who left ended up? Public? There aren’t many similar schools nearby…

Not sure what you mean by “similar”. There are private school options all over the place. None are the same and of course not all Quaker. But comparative programs, nice campuses, a mix of good and ok teachers. All schools have pros and cons. Closer to DC more expensive. Closer to Baltimore cheaper. To say there aren’t enough similar to compare perplexes me. What exactly is the main thing ssfs has you don’t believe others do?

Not the PP but I agree there are not many options for high school in Montgomery county at a lower tuition. The two that come to mind are Good Consel and Barrie. Please list others.

If you’re restricted to just that area then there isn’t much to do. Options exist but you do have to increase your search radius. The closer toward DC you move the more expensive they get (Bullis, Sidwell etc). However if you move up to Howard and towards Baltimore the prices drop (Baltimore friends, Park, Mcdonogh, Key, GCS, Roland Park).

You have to search up from MC going up into HC and Annapolis/Baltimore. It’s the toward DC schools that are 45+ but otherwise MD private schools are under 40K (ie cheaper than ssfs) for US. ~38K is the norm for US in the 24-25 school year. You just need to make a list of the tuition and that’s what you’ll see.

Can someone explain the secrecy POCC and dots? What exactly are you trying to say? Is this code for something? Maybe I missed something but I don’t understand any of the last few post.

Anonymous wrote:I don't understand these cryptic posts either. But I recently heard a rumor that RG was stealing money from the school. I had always assumed that the school's financial problems were the result of gross negligence/mismanagement vs. embezzlement. Is there evidence that he was, in fact, stealing?

Since the bot completed an audit only the bot can confirm or deny this. The rest of us can only relay our own experiences on what we saw RG doing or saying in the 4 years he was here and how they didn’t sit right/things seemed off - but those can only be “rumors” -which you are hearing. Personally I have been patiently waiting for the BOT to publish a transparent findings report to school families on the audit findings - enough to put these “rumors” to bed. That hasn’t come.

That’s ridiculous. He was not stealing. Stop with the defamatory statements about RG and the prior BoT/admin.
Anonymous
What proves that is ridiculous? People are sharing their thoughts and trying to understand how the current situation came to be. That is what happens when information and transparency is withheld. People speculate and share what they’ve heard to figure out how to do better.

For example, whoever is deleting posts here, like the one above that quoted about hearing that stealing rumor (ie not saying it’s a proven fact). But the quoted post has been deleted. That actually leads to more speculation.

Also, to move to Friends Council director position, RG would have to have been vetted in some capacity and make the decision to accept. But when he left, effective immediately, he did not give professional notice or say where he was suddenly going. What’s the reason for the lack of transparency?

This forum has once again spiraled. SSFS is recovering from the pandemic and it's mishandling by RG and perhaps by some BOTs. The recovery efforts are obvious!

Sure, remain alert and certainly pose questions to appropriate persons and in appropriate formats.

The noise on this forum is spectacularly ridiculous and the story of SSFS is spectacularly small in comparison to things going on in the world.

Was he out stealing directly? Agee’s I can’t say that. Was there a lot of signs of unethical behavior? Absolutely. Was any of it criminal? How can we know. An audit wasn’t done for no reason. Was the 25+ yeah cfo fired for a job well done? Clearly not. The point is the bot hasn’t published a summary of findings after the audit so what exactly do you expect ppl to think given all the known red flags and staff firings? Don’t blame the ppl for asking tough questions.

If you think ppl post questions here because they haven’t thought to “ pose questions to appropriate persons and in appropriate formats.” - you are doing their intelligence a real disservice. Of course we keep raising questions to the ppl who should know and thru the appropriate formats. Clearly that isn’t working. This is why this thread never dies. Don’t blame the ppl. This forum doesn’t “spiral” it just happens to be a he only place families actual get some info to make sense out of anything. Once actual useful information starts coming out from the “appropriate persons” trust me, you won’t have to convince anyone to stop posting here.

Posting here doesn’t mean ppl aren’t aware of other things going on in this world. That’s actually pretty funny - not sure if you meant it to be so funny.

But yeah a forum about your kids school seems to only get ppl talking about said school - how surprising!

Seems like you’re just worried that ppl might figure out something the more they question?

Exactly. Keep asking tough questions. Let’s figure this out. And why might people want to understand more and ask all the questions now? Some of us are trying to decide where to commit more money for another year. I find the dwindling resources and the lack of transparency disturbing.

As a responsible parent you should find this disturbing. We do too. The re enrollment clock is ticking and what really have we learned since last July? Ridiculous!
