Washington Post article about Former Farquhar Administrator

Anonymous
The obvious solution has nothing to do with race and everything to do with removing predatory individuals and protecting children and the people who educate them. Eric Minus hasn’t just covered up inappropriate sexual behavior from Beidleman. He hid the fact that a Sherwood teacher was fired for sexual abuse of a student and never told the community. This guy was as white as they come. He was protected and his victims were never given an opportunity to know they weren’t alone.

In reading the article, Dr. Beidelman is sociopath and an unrepentant liar. Not only does he need to be fired, but several of his enablers as well. Dr. McKnight needs to stop letting bad actors get away with murder just because they're also people of color. It's not ok.

Ew, PP. Seriously. Yuck. Your assumption says nothing about MCPS but a lot about you.

It's a pretty reasonable assumption actually. I am someone who really believes in racial equity but there is definitely a culture of "white people bad, Black people good" in the racial equity space.

During the same time period, there was a lot of reshuffling in Central Office staff. However, for the complaints that came in regarding Beidleman, there was no change in the MCPS response to the complaints.

There should be a lot of people tainted by how MCPS directly handled the complaints. MCPS needs to extensively clean house including most of Central Office and Dr. McKnight herself. Leadership is responsible.

The one complaint from the science teacher in the WaPo article should have been enough to not only prevent his promotion to PB but to put him on leave for a full investigation.

Seems odd she would be harrassed for so long and not request to be transferred to another school. 2019-2023 is a long time.

Are you serious? Are you a female?

It is normal to doubt yourself in this kind of a situation. Also normal to ignore bad behavior when you need to keep your job.

I said transfer not lose your job. This school was big on staff going out together and she was at every outing. I would not be at after work activities that are not required if I felt threatened.

Easy to judge from the outside. He scolded us as a group and individually when we didn’t show up to social events.

So a principal “scolded” his staff for not going to happy hour? So everyone showed up with smiles? I am confused because these are all adults correct?

Yes. But we needed him to sign purchase orders, field trip requests, etc. he was in a position of power and took advantage of it. Stop victim shaming!

I wouldn't expect anybody who has ever held paid employment to be confused about this.

Since when is it a MCPS requirement to attend non work related events?

It’s not but this man is known for not following the MCEA contract to begin with.

I’m not sure what you are referring to by asking similar questions over and over. Do you think because she went to these work events that she deserved the sexual harassment?

PPs have already explained that there was pressure to attend. There’s a power issue at work that creates an unbalanced dynamic.

Bigger question, why is a boss getting drunk around his employees then making sexual advances at them? Totally inappropriate behavior especially for a supervisor.

So don’t go to the events and go to work and do your job and go home.

Teachers can’t do their jobs without working lights, working AC, instructional supplies, adequate staffing, scheduling, etc. these are all things that principals control. They can literally do whatever they want.

What was she wearing? Why was she walking there at that time of night? Why was she drinking? Why didn't she yell? Why didn't she call the police?

Or, in other words - you're victim-blaming. Cut it out.

Amazed that anyone wants to defend the perp or the school hierarchy in this case. If the WP's reporting is even close to true, he abused many people. Clearly terrible conduct.

These are not work events. Happy hour is not a work event. If you feel harassed why continue to go? There is no adult that will continue to attend non work events that feels harassed.

You are victim-blaming. Stop.

Honestly, I think it's someone (kids?) trolling/baiting to get a rise. I reported one of them because it doesn't seem like there is a cogent person on the end of some of those comments.

The victim blaming is so obvious and over the top- its likely an attempt to distract from the real conversation at hand. A classic DCUM tactic sadly.

Biedleman deserves to be fired, and so should many of his superiors who allowed this behavior to go on for years. That's all there is to it and these lame semantics and victim blaming "then just transfer!" "dont go to happy hour then!" are pure distractions only and can be ignored.
