Would parents move their ds to a new team if they knew the talent would be there?
Frustrated with politics and how some top teams are being formed, I had the idea of pulling top players that I am aware of to create a new team top team with elite talent. It would be with a local club that already exists. This club imo isn't pulling top talent so the reputation is not there. But if we were able to truly pull players from various clubs to make one amazing team would parents do it? Or is it all about the alphabet game? I believe the first year would be a struggle for the players to prove it to the leagues they are elite but knowing the players, I know they are so it wouldn't be hard. I am just a parent not a coach. I would not sign to this club on my own because the talent isn't there. But if we could bring the talent, problem solved. Am I crazy to think it could work? How do you get all the parents to agree? |

| You'll top out at NCSL, and I'm not sure how you'd get an invite to play there (and even if you could, you'd start at the bottom division). It's not a viable idea at all. |
Which club would you want to move to? Great idea! |
What age group? |
| See PAC travel thread. Underrated small club that has been low key pulling in talent from the area and gaining traction. Plays in EDP currently. |
| Effectively that’s how some coaches use the platforms like rush, takoma park, owc to host their teams. The challenge is when you get to u12 and u13 now the fragmentation of top leagues limit access to clubs, vs the USYS team |
Same could be done on the girls side. Take an entire strong team and you can put them in ECNL and shake things up. Villarreal is in ECNL. It could give great opportunity to a strong overlooked team in a big club. |
| Who would coach and who has connections for recruiting? |
Sorry but they have a bumpy track record. Most kids leave PAC for larger clubs due to the disorganization, favoritism and inability to improve/recruit very good players. Many families upset that there are combined aged teams b/c there aren't always enough kids for a particular age group. Then there's the lack of connections with colleges that the larger clubs have. PAC is fine if you are middle of the road or lower team player. Not for elite players. |

You might be better off forming a tournament ‘select’ or ‘all-stars’ team. Then when you prove you can win a tournament or indoor soccer or futsal league/ tournament, you might inspire confidence to get the players to jump ship and play for your team full time.
Otherwise, you got to be a really good salesman. |
lol I’d love to watch this sh*t show! Tell us more!!! |
| I am aware of a dude in Manassas who started his own team several years ago (CSA). I believe he may have up to 3 or 4 teams by now. Long story short, his team won the boys 2012 VA state cup last year. I didn't believe it until I looked it up and sure enough, they beat a solid Alexandria team for the championship....true story. |
While I agree that this is historically accurate, there is some legitimate levelling up going on there now. Maybe not in all age groups, but they're gaining traction |
Look at their results now that they’re u13, though. Not all about winning blah blah, but they had a moment and I think that’s all done with. So maybe not the best example? |
