The Gulf of Aqaba's deeper and wider characteristics align with the biblical account in the Book of Exodus
Scientists have discovered deadly brine pools nearly 4,000 feet beneath the surface of the Red Sea's Gulf of Aqaba.

The pools contain water up to 10 times saltier than normal seawater and are completely devoid of oxygen, creating natural death traps for marine life that ventures inside.

The newly discovered pools lie in a region where some believe Moses parted the waters while leading the Israelites to the Promised Land.

The Gulf of Aqaba's deeper and wider characteristics align with the biblical account in the Book of Exodus.

Scientists have named them the NEOM Brine Pools, marking an extension of known Red Sea brine pool locations.

The pools act as geological time capsules, with their undisturbed sediment preserving records of past events in the Gulf of Aqaba.

The area is known for its mysterious features, including extreme depths, volcanic activity and unusual temperature variations.

The remarkable discovery came during the final moments of an extensive underwater exploration.

Pretty interesting!

Marine Researchers Discover Deep-Sea Complex of Brine Pools in Red Sea

Scientists from the University of Miami have discovered one 10,000 m2 brine pool and three minor pools of less than 10 m2 in the Gulf of Aqaba, a northern extension to the Red Sea. Dubbed the NEOM Brine Pools, these salty underwater lakes have a unique potential to archive historical tsunamis, flashfloods, and seismicity on millennial timescales.

Discovery of the deep-sea NEOM Brine Pools in the Gulf of Aqaba, Red Sea

Abstract
Deep-sea brine pools represent hypersaline environments famed for their extremophile microbes. With anoxia entirely excluding bioturbating megafauna, brine pools are also conducive to the pristine preservation of sedimentary sequences. Here we use bathymetric and geophysical observations to locate a complex of brine pools in the Gulf of Aqaba consisting of one 10,000 m2 pool and three minor pools of less than 10 m2. We further conduct sediment coring and direct sampling of the brine to confirm the sedimentary and environmental characteristics of these pools. We find that the main pool preserves a stratigraphy which spans at least 1200 years and contains a combination of turbidites, likely resulting from flashfloods and local seismicity, and tsunamigenic terrestrial sediment. The NEOM Brine Pools, as we name them, extend the known geographical range of Red Sea brine pools, and represent a unique preservational environment for the sedimentary signals of regional climatic and tectonic events.

It's interesting but the article just says the studied area has unusual geologic features that might be consistent with a place where the Red Sea was parked. It doesn't directly state that anything happened at a time consistent with the era of Biblical Moses.

The article also talks more about evolution because it talks about brine pools with organisms that can live in extremely saline conditions. This is explained to be possibly similar to early life on Planet Earth and a potential area to research vs. life on other planets.

So kind of low on supporting the literal Bible and more on evolution.

Not clear what could have caused the Parting of the Red Sea. Seismic activity?

That is interesting thanks.

A research team led by Sam Purkis, a professor and chair of the Department of Marine Geosciences at the University of Miami, used remotely operated submersibles and deep-sea probes to explore the area of deep-sea trenches lying between Africa and the Arabian Peninsula.

Because very few organisms survive in the brine pools, the sediment layers have remained undisturbed and have preserved an archive of past climate changes and geological events.

"Ordinarily, these animals bioturbate or churn up the seabed, disturbing the sediments that accumulate there," according to Purkis. "Not so with the brine pools. Here, any sedimentary layers that settle to the bed of the brine pool remain exquisitely intact."

OP didn’t say anything about Biblical literalism.

Interesting finding, appears to have absolutely nothing to do with Exodus except it’s the same general location.

A lot of legends and texts have some basis in fact. They represent the people of the time trying to make sense of their environment and put a religious spin on it. Science has shown that there were some widespread flooding events that account for the description of floods (eg. Noah and the ark) in many religious and mythical traditions. So it wouldn’t surprise me if there is some kind of environmental circumstance behind the parting of the seas.

None of this has anything to do with Moses or the Bible, OP.

I'm a research scientist. Brine pools have been discovered elsewhere. The planet is replete with bizarre life forms, unusual geology, etc. None of this is surprising.

Yes, ancient religious texts sometimes describe certain situations that may have related to natural events that actually happened.

But here, the existence of these water formations has nothing to do with a physical parting of the waters in the same area.

These are rare, deep sea brine pools.

Rare deep-sea brine pools discovered in Red Sea

MIAMI—Researchers at the University of Miami (UM) Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science recently discovered rare deep-sea brine pools in the Gulf of Aqaba, a northern extension to the Red Sea. These salty underwater lakes hold secrets into the way oceans on Earth formed millions of years ago, and offer clues to life on other planets.

In partnership with OceanX, Sam Purkis, professor and chair of the UM Department of Marine Geosciences and team made their discovery more than one mile beneath the sea surface (1,770 meters) using a remotely operated underwater vehicle (ROV) on the OceanXplorer, OceanX’s highly equipped marine research vessel capable of exploring the most unreachable places on Earth.

The research, published in Nature Communications, is the first discovery of brine pools in the Gulf of Aqaba.

“We were very lucky,” said Purkis. “The discovery came in the last five minutes of the ten-hour ROV dive that we could dedicate to this project.”

The deep sea brine pools contain sedimentary “signals” of regional climate and tectonic events.

DP. You are a dishonest interlocutor. You know he did not mean that the discovery was debunked, but rather that the idea that this is somehow evidence for a biblical impossibility has been debunked.

Very dishonest.

Where are all the remains of the Egyptian army?

Such a stupid, stupid idea. If you believe this actually happened you are delusional.
