One child in 8th grade and one in 10th grade.
They have lived through a bunch of government shut downs - and now this. |
| Do you have to take it? Why not pass? The only reason I am taking the offer is because I am so close to retirement. |
| Taking it? Lots of people have been "put on" admin leave. Not a choice. |
“Lots”? Who? |
All of USAID for starters. Read much? |
USAID Dept of Ed OPM |
You're....pretty out of touch with what's going on |
|
They have "lived through" government shutdowns? You tell them you are getting fired, and that your family will be ok. You tell them you have already started looking for a new job.
I am DEFINITELY sorry this is happening to you. And also, you shouldn't over-dramatize this. |
USAID was overturned. DOE and OPM are mostly still talk. Who else? |
You. You're next. Wake up! |
| That the government has been taken over by awful people. What else is there to say? |
| Various people at HHS. The EJ office at EPA. DEI staff at various agencies. |
Ignorant much? |
LOL. Okay. I am up! |
|
Agree that the bark is worse than the bite and there are very few people who aren't still getting their paycheck, if any.
You dont need to tell your kids anything because nothing has happened to you. You can talk about changes in government if you think they're interested. You can talk about logistics changes if your in office days are changing. If you are laid off you tell them it's fine and that you'll be making responsible choices to keep the family running. You dont need to be dramatic. |
