| There was a sheriff suv in front of school this morning. Is it always there? Know why if it is or why it was there today? |
| Don't all HS have such a car at school something to do with SROs? |
| There is frequently a police car in front of BCC. They often check in or stop by. |
| Sheriff suv again this morning. But they don't send out anything about those instead they spend so much on pointless communications such as the multiple outdoor ed volunteer messages stop recruiting HS students and get parents to volunteers! Geez. |
Because it's routine, it's not unusual. |
A sheriff? Really |
Yes, schools, please stop communicating with us about our children's education, and constantly update us on police movements. |
When was the last time you got communication about kid's "education"? Are you counting grades? |
|
BCC is notoriously bad at communicating anything related to school safety and with the crackdown on phones, there are fewer videos and photos from kids.
I’m not saying this particular thing is an issue but don’t assume it’s nothing just because you didn’t hear anything. Lots of bad stuff happens there everyday according to my kids. |
Is there anything new? admin and optics.. |
|
Is the question about sheriff-designated car versus other law enforcement?
I think all HSs sometimes have law enforcement cars in front. there is an officer assigned to each cluster and though they're not there all the time, they do check in regularly even when nothing particular is going on. Haven't I been reading (on this board) about multiple fights at BCC? if so, maybe they are checking in more frequently ,or maybe they have followup business to work through prior incidents. |
| What have they done if anything after last week's lockdown? Is the LE cruiser parked there during school hours now? |
|
BCC parent here.
After last week's shooting outside the school, I expect more of a police presence to reassure students and act as dissuasion to would-be recidivists. No, I do not expect notification that there is extra police presence. |
State Super should have intervened immediately. The amount of leeway parents have give towards school system and the "system" is appalling. Why haven't parents and (where the F are the teachers & staff unions?) gotten an action suit together? Students and those who are responsible for the care of the students during school hours have a RIGHT to learn/work in a safe environment! Wow. Wow. Wow. How many fking lockdowns do these teens need to go through fking MCPS??! |
Here's the ugly truth: MCEA is complicit in the poor state of safety and security because they believe that talking about student behavior, criminality, and violence in schools will result in right-wing takeovers of schools. So they stay quiet or don't support members who raise this as an issue. The problem is ignoring these problems will actually encourage and justify the very thing they're fearful of. |
