What did your delivery shopper steal from you?

Anonymous
1. I ordered one microwave baked potato to microwave. My delivery shopper bought 3 pound bag of potatoes. He opened the bag and took a few potatoes for himself. I guess he thought they were almost the same price as my original order of just one microwave potato.

2. The box of kitchen trash bags was opened and the delivery shopper took a few trash bags.

For all the deliveries I have had during COVID and when my car was in the shop, two times isn't that bad.

How about you? I didn't report it.

This has never happened to me. If anything, I've gotten extra items probably meant for someone else's order.

Are you talking about where you buy one shrink-wrapped russet potato? First time I ever saw that in a store my jaw dropped to the floor. Right about the time I saw a "Gluten Free!" sign on the cabbage bin (yes, really).

You know, all you do is take a russet potato, stab it with a fork a few times, and nuke it. 5-7 minutes usually does it. And he was probably right about the price. And most stores have bins where you can buy just one potato if you want.

You can just report it as an issue and the store / Instacart / whomever will just issue a refund (never had an issue). But also I don't think delivery people are doing this at all.

Never had anything taken. I did think I ordered a bunch of bananas, only to receive 1. Same with apples. Thought I was getting 1 bag, got 1 apple.

I order those shrinkwrapped individual baked potatoes one a week because they are large. I microwave it with broccoli and cheddar cheese for a meal. I sometimes buy the shrinkwrapped sweet potato.

I actually never priced a 3 or 5 pound bag of potatoes before. I had no idea my one potato 🥔🥔🥔🥔 was so expensive.

No stealing but when I get a certain driver my groceries arrive smelling like smoke. I've complained but they don't do too much about it.

I’ve never had this happen

Who can eat a whole potato? This is why Americans are overweight.

Nah.
Here is the worst case, fully loaded large baked potato:

One large russet potato: 290 calories
1 T. Butter: 100 calories
2 T. Sour cream: 57 calories
1/2 oz. Cheese: 58 calories
Bacon crumbles equiv. To 1 piece: 43 calories
Chives: 1 calorie
Total: 549 calories
Add a side of streamed broccoli and you are up to 600 calories. 600 calories is not too much for one meal by any stretch.
Whole potatoes are not the problem. Americans are fat because they drink empty calories and eat tons of processed and fried foods. A whole baked potato is actually pretty harmless.

Almond mom checked in. Now, who’s going to post that potatoes are low class and it’s trashy to eat them?

Actually potatoes are by far the most satisfying food, eating boiled potatoes leads to weight loss bc it keeps you satisfied longer

I’ve done an instacart delivery every week for 4 years and never had this happen. On the few occasions where there's been a mistake (and we’re talking 4-5 times in all these years), instacart refunded me. Like when they gave us salt and vinegar chips instead of regular flavor. Totally minor mistake and nothing devious from the shopper.

On the Safeway app, a "speedy spuds" microwavable potato is currently $1.19. Over the weekend, they had a sale and a 5lb bag of russet potatoes was $1.99, though it's currently $3.49

You don't need the plastic to microwave a potato. I usually just stab it with a fork, put it on a plate, and either cover it with a damp paper towel or I don't dry it after washing it and I just put a bowl over it.
