I received a fedex delivery with several boxes from petco. When I went to bring them in, I saw a box of Insomnia cookies on top. I thought maybe a gift from my boss as she occasionally sends me little gifts after a tough project. I brought everything in and noticed that the cookies were not for me, but for someone else who lives in my neighborhood with a similar street name (Happy Lane vs. Happy Hills Lane). I do not know this person. Their phone number was on the label so I sent a text to let them know I received the cookies and to let me know when they'd like to stop by and get them. This was around noon. i have not heard back from them. I was very busy at work today and with the rain, was not in the mood to look up address and go drop them off.
So now its 6:00, getting hungry, and want a cookie. What would you do - at what point are the cookies mine? |
| No, you do not eat the cookies. What is wrong with you? |
| Don’t eat the cookie. Pretend they do not exist. Call the number. |
Less than a day? Don't be a raccoon. Drop it off at their house. |
|
Just go drive them over. Think how happy they'll feel to get cookies delivered to them in the rain.
And, think how sad the person who sent them will be when they ask your neighbor if they got them and the neighbor has to say "No, they were misdelivered to a neighbor of mine but by the time I was able to text her back she'd eaten them all." |
| If I got a text from a neighbor that they have my food product delivery, i am not sure I would want it. I would have just called the company and have them send me a new box. Especially if I don't know the person. |
| 24 hours. Text in the morning, if you don’t pick these up by noon they’re going in my belly. |
Agree. Its not sealed up like a food shipment. Its more like grtting someone's door dash. |
| You messed up, OP. You already texted them, so you can’t eat them. If you had never texted them, you could have eaten them. Order something from uber eats after a long week. But you can’t eat the cookies. |
| This post is funny omg |
| I cannot fathom getting a package and not delivering it to the right address - at least as long as you have a working car. Texting them is just weird and will come across as a trap. |
| Just bring them to their house. What’s wrong with you people? |
|
I’m just gonna say that I think this is a real conundrum! I actually agree with all the feedback so far even though it conflicts. 😂
They are all valid points. And now I want a cookie. |
| Does your house have no food in it? No, you can’t eat their cookies. It’s been 6 hours that they’ve most likely been at work. Not everyone has their phone attached to them at work. |
| It’s very easy to say someone else should deliver these. I think the fact that you reached out to them and asked them to pick it up is the correct thing to do. And I would call or text tomorrow. You could also call the company and tell them. After all that work if you don’t get any response I’d consider them yours. |
