It seems to be accepted that once clubs hold tryouts - rosters can't be adjusted and things are set in stone. That may not be a safe assumption. Just sayin.

Because of the new RL league rosters will not be set in stone. This will give the clubs the ability to move players up or down from week to week. Also ECNL allows rosters up to 30 only 18 are game eligible nothing is set in stone with ECNL.

What club does your kid play for that has tryouts but doesn’t add any players who tryout mid year? Never seen that before in ECNL.

I have a feeling GA will make an announcement about SY vs BY after the spring showcase next weekend!! No reason to disrupt the team before this!

You have no idea how ECNL works. A good ECNL team always attracts new players to tryout. It is not surprising a good team will eventually have 25 players. I believe this will apply to a lot of ECNL teams depending on the ECNL secret "flexibility".

Any "flexibility" that ECNL can give will be after all the tryouts finish and team formation, so it will not offend other leagues to let USSF approve its transit plan, if any.

DOC/Coach at my club emailed ECNL rep about age group changes. They did respond and say they are getting plans in place to change up the age groups. But when he asked for 25/26 or 26/27 there has been no response.

He has not followed up but if it was a hard NO for 25/26 they would have said that.

He believes something is in the works.

So does your DOC create teams with the thought that something is in the works for 25/26?

It will be a big roster. They will take any Q3/Q4 without cutting any Q1/Q2

Having 25 kids with hte "replacements" taking roster spots as placeholders for next year is not somthing my Son will be a part of.

Will big ECNL clubs do this? Im sure they will.

The most important question is who are "they."? My understanding is that "they" isn't only US Club or ECNL - and it's USYS/USCS/AYSO who are working on a universal set of rules to allow some/all Q4s play down next year - at the club's discretion. Hopefully that group of people can agree on something good before we get too far into May.

They is someone from the admin team within ECNL. He didn't say who specifically.

USYS largest league already posted they are transitioning to 9/1 in Spring 26. Most teams will be formed and play up for fall have the option to stay as they are.

The minute any big club in a local area moves to let Q4s change age groups early every other club will follow. It would be a massive competitive disadvantage, both on the field and financially/player numbers, if they don't.

Remind me where this is coming from again? I remember the initial post but forget the specifics

After teams are formed, ECNL can allow the clubs to move down the Q4 players. If a team can move down X number of Q4, then it will make room for the same X number of older Q4 to join this team. So, overall, the roster size will not be dramatically increased. So clubs will need to decide how they do the transition.
