I kknow of a club near me with a friends kid and 80% of the roster is Q3/4. They were never great but now with the change they might be the best team because of sheer numbers.

Hope those Jul-Aug kids realize they likely might not be able to stay on the team.

Then the clubs that have truly been thinking about development will be the winners.

What's the age? Big difference if they are playing 11v11 vs. 9v9 vs 7v7.

Is this an ECNL team?

They’re going to cook. If they’re average in their league once they play their age category they’ll be very superior. If they are currently ECNL RL, they might be better off going to ECNL for the 2026-2027 season.

Hopefully the USYS/USCS/AYSO rostering rules are flexible next year to allow Q4s to play with their classmates and peers next year (25/26)!

Hopefully that would be put out soon. Some clubs are already holding tryouts, the rest will be in the next month.

What is the relevance of clubs holding tryouts in April or May?

ECNL in maryland and north of them can't hold tryouts until May. It's not all about VA.

ECNL isn’t going to give clubs with late tryouts an advantage over clubs/states that have already held tryouts by announcing any changes for 25/26. Someone claims there’s “top secret” info ECNL is going to allow “flexibility” for 25/26, but there’s no way that’s being announced until ECNL tryouts have concluded.

It's also not all about ECNL.

It seems to be accepted that once clubs hold tryouts - rosters can't be adjusted and things are set in stone. That may not be a safe assumption. Just sayin.
