| Do you know about it? What is the reputation nationwide? In-state many prefer FSU to UF despite the ranking difference due to general atmosphere, but wondering about elsewhere. |
| Everyone who goes or went there loves it. It has a nicer campus than UF. The girls are foyine. Awesome Greek scene. Big football culture even though the team was ass this year. Still, I suspect the main reason it gets more in-state applications than its rival is because it's seen as an easier admit. |
They're both around 25% admission rate, UF very slightly lower. My impression is most FL students who are somewhat good students apply to both. |
Test score ranges and high school class rank distribution aren't even in the same ballpark. UF is a much harder admit. The joke in Florida is: What do a UF grad and an FSU grad have in common? They both got into FSU. |
Do some people pick FSU though over it? |
I think for music, maybe some nursing. (source: grew up in Florida, also the joke is correct) |
So even now in a much more competitive landscape people look down on FSU? |
| I'm from Florida. UF is seen as more prestigious for sure, but the people I know who went to FSU did just fine. |
| FSU is still ranked in the T5 consistently for biggest party school. That is it’s reputation. |
|
I would put it on level with Alabama and Ole Miss. If that's the level you are looking at, I've heard kids love it.
It is not comparable to UF. |
Both those schools' grads aren't banking on "prestige" for anything. |
Your dumb. UF is a top prestigious state school. |
When I grew up in Florida, going in state was basically free with Bright Futures so a lot of kids stayed. So UF was incredibly popular even among the high stats kids because free. |
That is still the case, more so than ever with OOS and private costs rising. It's hard to get into, and so is FSU. Hard to turn down a free ride. |
| Not a good school is my impression. |
