How do you get a job at the White House

We have a friend who is trying to work for the Trump Administration. I know he has been setting up meetings for months and has no job offer. Their family is completely on hold waiting for the dad to get a job.

Has he submitted an application through the Project 25 Personnel Database? It is collecting resumes for potential hires in the new administration. He'll have to successfully pass the loyalty (to Trump and his MAGA project) questions as part of the weeding out process built in to the online application.

My DH's client has been hanging out at Mar-a-lago (trying to get some govt contracting money), and he was offered a job the other day. He said he could recommend DH for a job if he wanted high-ranking one, as long as DH hadn't contributed to Kamala (apparently it's OK if you've previously donated to Dems). DH declined.

No, they are not wealthy, just UMC. He does have high academic credentials.

Rich is relative. They are not ultra wealthy. I’m sure they are still top 1% but not the type to donate millions to a campaign.

You have to be a big donor, have worked for the campaign or be recommended by someone who has. This has always been true. D or R. I knew a lot of Clinton and Obama staffers and that's how it worked.
Hanging out at Mar A Lago might help make connections with donors/campaign connected people.
Write opeds that get published somewhere about Trump policies in your field. Promote them relentlessly. If you can't get published, blog and promote relentlessly.
