LSE Summer Programmes

Anonymous
Has anyone's U.S. college student done any of the LSE Summer Programmes? My DC, a current freshman at U.S. university, is not having a lot of luck finding a worthwhile summer internship so figures she at least might try something interesting this summer. Does anyone have any feedback on the LSE 3-week summer courses? Worthwhile? Interesting? Fun?

Bump. No input but I’d be interested to hear about this as well as summer programmes in Spain.

My kids have done Sciences Po summer program (2.5 weeks) and an outstanding program (in English) and Bocconi’s Pre-College program for Business.

Kid 1 is now at Yale, kid #2 at Cornell.

LSE summer is fun. LSE stands for let’s see Europe. Great friends from around the world.

My DC did it a few years ago with friends and had a great time. Housing can be tricky and expensive. Rooms available through LSE were quite far away.

Neither kid did anything after HS Freshman year.
Kid 1 is Political Science. had a tough time selecting between Yale and Science Po.
Kid 2 is at Dyson.

They each went to one. So I cant compare. They both liked it. Bocconi kid really really liked it. It is a bigger program. Made close friends from all over the world. You select two classes from a list of 10 or so. His professors were great and he still talks to one. Good mix of learning what school there would be like, a little taste of college classes in business and a lot of fun in the streets of Milan. Bocconi offers housing in their Dorms. My kid was lucky that his dorm was adjacent to the building where his classes were.

Sciences Po also enjoyed it. But it looks like this was a more academic undertaking. While the program is in English it helps if your kid knows even a little French. He liked it so much that he applied and was accepted to Sciences Po. So he was torn making a decision. For Political Science majors, Sciences Po is top in the world or a very close second. Could not go wrong with either. It is just a completely different college experience.

My DC did last year and loved it. Had a great time in London, met people from all over the world, and enjoyed the class. Was also able to transfer the credit for the class to college.

Well, I went in the 1980s and that was not true then either, so there's that.
