When should I go see Jimmy Carter's casket?

I'm not exactly clear on the timeline for Carter's funeral procession. I have Thursday off and wanted to pay visit at the Capitol, but I beleive the procession is starting early in the morning. I don't want to stand more than hour in the cold. What's the best way to pay my respects in person?

I saw HW laying in state very early in the morning, like 4 am. No line until I was in the room. I heard that the line was hours long during the day/evening.

Why? He’s dead. He won’t know you’re there. He didn’t even know you. Why would you expend your resources on a dead man that never knew you, who will never know you were there?

I'm watching his caisson's installment in the rotunda right now. It is profoundly touching.

The contrast between this honorable man who was a true Christian and the horrible person who will be inaugurated there in two weeks is mind boggling.

Thank you for this thread. I'd like to pay my respects as well. I made a mistake and went into the political discussion forum thread to ask for guidance on visiting the Rotunda. It was vicious in there from all sides.

Agree PP. DH taking out kids (he is moderate R). He also took them to pay respects to RBG. There are so many reasons to respect them both.
