If snowing throughout the day tomorrow, when do you plan on shovel your sidewalk?
TIA |
| It will be over by mid morning. |
|
DC donut hole is real!!!!
Look at map. No snow inside beltway!!! Tons of snow now outside beltway. |
Not quite over, but mostly over. So yeah, do the main cleanup around 10am and then come back around in the afternoon and get the additional inch or two that falls. I put a bunch of salt out tonight. I'm curious to see how that does. |
| Ideally I'd like to avoid having to shovel too much before leaving for work around 8am. |
Confirmation the political scene in this town is literally full of hot air... |
Was gonna post the same! Screenshoted the map and sent to my brother on the west coast and captioned exactly that. |

I have strong feelings about this:
I grew up in a snowy place and the right answer is to shovel all public walkways at dawn for the safety of your neighborhood, and then to tackle your driveway so that no one suspects you either slept in, don’t care, or are dead. If you didn’t shovel at dawn, your neighbors would assume something like carbon monoxide poisoning and bang on your door until you woke up. If the snow is continuously falling, you go out every hour to do another pass. Then I lived in a very unusual place where we got >30 feet of snow each year. There we never ever stop shoveling. If there wasn’t fresh snow, then you used the time to obsess over tidying your snowbanks or trying to chip at ice patches to get to bare asphalt (a rare and aspirational feat!). I’ll be out at dawn! |

Shovel in the afternoon, then lay down ice melt.
|
Hmmm. DCA is inside beltway and lots of snow there. |
Um. I live on Capitol Hill and our street is covered in snow. I’ll do a first pass with the shovel before 9 am and then we’ll shovel throughout the day, including one of our neighbors’ sidewalks. It’s so beautiful out there! |
As a New Englander, every 2 inches or so |
| Looks like a bust. Shovel this morning and maybe do a quick touch up this afternoon. |
Where are you located? We have six inches already. |
And will get at most 2 more this evening. Not the 10-12 people were salivating over. |
