| As a woman, if you must pick one shorter than you or taller but skinny, who would you choose? |
|
Nice, generous with time and affection, thoughtful, funny, intelligent….
I know that’s not what you asked, but I picked my significant other based on real qualities. 20 years happily married with none of the drama I read on here. |
+1, I can't answer a question asking me to decide between two men whose only qualities are "tall and skinny" or "shorter than me but not skinny." My response would be "neither" because I don't know enough about either of these men to know whether they are worth spending my time on. If you want me to assume they are both equally great guys with the same personality and that aside from the height/weight issue I am attracted to them, the answer is "whoever I met first." Great men with terrific personalities with whom I have a spark of attraction are rare enough that I would jump at the opportunity to date one regardless of his height or whether he was skinny or not. My DH is a few inches taller than me (I'm 5'6" and he is 5'10") and he's not fat but I would not describe him as skinny either. |

American women cannot date skinny men because most are not small themselves and women are very insecure about dating someone who weighs less than them.
And further in our culture we are fed this weird obsession that "I need a man to protect me". It's very bizarre. I lived in many Asian countries when I was younger and in the countries I lived the men were much smaller weight wise even the taller ones very skinny. Those men would be considered very small weight wise by most American women. I am a big guy and we need to be honest with ourselves. We are fat in this country I am sorry but it's the truth harsh maybe but it is what it is. It's so bad that we have a distorted view of weight. When we see someone who is skinny (and probably healthy) we immediately question whether they are sick, if they eat or are anorexic. Yeah we and a few other countries like Germany Mexico etc we are just big. |
| Taller. I’ve never been in a relationship with someone shorter than me- just not my thing. |
|
I'm 6'2.5 and 150lbs. My fiance is 5'5 and 160lbs. Before I met her I didn't have issues meeting women. Now of course they made comments about me being tall and skinny but it was never a handicap.
OP maybe be tall and skinny like me and is insecure about it. That's understandable. In general most people who are tall and skinny often have a genetic predisposition. In my case on my dad side all the men are very tall and skinny and that goes back many generations. If you are tall and skinny like me, as long as you have a straight posture and in good shape you are okay. 2 skinny people are not alike. If you are skinny but looks frail with no visible muscles you need to hit the gym. My workout body is 5'8 and 195lbs. He is built like a tank with an incredible muscular body. And he has a great personality too. Talkative yes lol but a good guy. His dating successes have been meh... There is no algorithm when it comes to being attractive to the other gender (or same gender of that's your orientation). Attraction in my opinion is very personal and we are all unique. |

Most relationship I have seen in real life have been with the man either being the same height or taller than the women. And it doesn't matter what the woman looks like. She may be tall short skinny fat ugly beautiful doesn't matter in 9/10 cases she is either shorter or the same height.
Let us put this debate to end please. Most (didn't say all) women don't date men shorter than them period. |

2025 just started and already the nonsense.
Women have choices. They are allowed to choose who they find attractive and pick that guy for whatever reason they want. Get over it. |
| You have posted this already. Be more creative next time. |
| Skinny is good. Height doesn’t matter. |

Is it because men are struggling on OLD? These type questions keep being posted by men.
By now men need to understand that OLD are mainly designed to favour women and give them far more options that men. And that's okay and a reminder that men should look for dates outside of OLD. I genuinely do not understand why men keep using the same venue OLD and yet keep having negative returns. These men won't invest in stocks that keep losing money. So they need to adopt the same strategy. And one last word. It's not the end of the world if you can't find dates of no woman wants to date you. If that's your situation find other things in your life that will bring you happiness. And the more desperate you are for a woman the more likely you are to settle and end up with a catastrophic match. Would you rather be single or be with a woman who is with you for other reasons other than because she rebuilt wants to be with you? Think about that |
| I have two shorter ones I right now. Can't be skinnier than I or taller than 2 inches. |

Ignore what women say and look at who women are with in public, and it goes something like this:
- 6'5" handsome rich guy has his pick of the litter - 6'3" bad boy dominates superficial / casual relationships - 5'10" UMC guy typically does well in LTRs with women who have had their fun and are ready to "settle" - 5'6" guy with a great personality, terrific physique, and well-off financially stays single tl;dr men require a bare minimum of height, looks, and finances to be successful in LTRs, and if they're lacking just enough in one of those areas, then no matter how much they improve the other two, they're f***ed. |

I'd pick the wonderful man with smarts, charm, charisma, athleticism, generosity of spirit, humor, a great way with people, and the ability to fix anything. And a willingness to talk about legal stuff all the time that others would find boring.
Oh, that's my DH. And he's shorter than I am by a smidge? So ... shorter? |
This is my DH. He's not single, lol. He's married to me -- a former model with multiple grad degrees and her own professional career and money. And there are plenty who would gladly get in line behind me at any given time, too. So you must be some kind of bitter incel or something to be projecting like this? |
