Where to get Wegovy or Zepbound prescription?

Anonymous
I have a long history of weight loss attempts. I have currently been seeing an internist and have been receiving a compounded semaglutide for the past 16 months. I lost a total of 30 lbs but have since gained back 12, so a current net loss of 18 lbs. I am paying $600/month for the medication and have been at max dosage for the past 10 months.

I would like to switch medications and try either Wegovy or Zepbound for both cost reasons as well as to hopefully reduce side effects. I experience nausea and GI issues almost daily. I am very worried about going off of medication completely for fear that the weight will all pile back on. I am about 50 lbs away from goal weight currently.

The doctor will not prescribe me any other medication because she says that her "program" only includes the compound. They do not submit to insurance at all for the medication - everything is out of pocket.

I saw my PCP two months ago for a physical and although my A1C is lower than last year, I am still borderline pre-diabetic. She also will not prescribe me any weight-loss medication because although she agrees that it may be helpful for me, she said she is not an expert in weight loss medication so she won't prescribe.

I have in the past gone to multiple well known weight loss clinics in the Western Fairfax/Eastern Loudoun area and had horrible experiences with the doctors there. From being put on 800 calorie/day diets of medical food replacements to cocktails of medications including phentermine that made me feel awful. I much prefer to eat real food.

Where can I go to get a prescription for either Wegovy or Zepbound that might not cost me $600/month? It's getting harder to come up with the money every month. How does it feel like everyone else is getting this medication more easily and cheaper than me???

Find a different PCP. I’m in Rockville so I can’t help you. But mine says they treat weight issues. I get my script from him. $20 copay every 3 months for the visit and $25/month for Zepbound since my insurance covers it.

Had the same issue with semaglutide and stopped. I am looking at Lavender Health for Tirzepatide. Cost is cheaper by about half.

I used noom to lose 77 pounds during covid. Gained over 50 back when I went back into the office. Tried again on noom and the weight wasn't budging. Got so desperate I signed up for their NOOM MED which does prescribe zepbound. That's what I'm on. Insurance covers it for me. I haven't had any trouble getting it since June. https://www.noom.com/lp/clinical?cid=Cj0KCQiAyc67BhDSARIsAM95QztF3to1WMutwLC10Dka-cruYLPH-6pXmllfJIqWqXaQ4vxnLEqrVYoaAv2bEALw_wcB&device=c&feature=&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQiAyc67BhDSARIsAM95QztF3to1WMutwLC10Dka-cruYLPH-6pXmllfJIqWqXaQ4vxnLEqrVYoaAv2bEALw_wcB&gid=162557415090%7C&group=brand-intent&lang=en&pos=&promo=&promo=&route=clinical&route=&sp=google&step=pros&type=branded%7Cintent%7Ce&upv=3&utm_campaign=21666779225&utm_content=713339670436&utm_medium=paidsearch&utm_source=g&utm_term=kwd-2080053054446%7Cnoom+med

I added a registered dietitian through Nourish online, a month ago, because I had hit a plateau. They don't prescribe anything, but it's been a fantastic complement to Noom Med, and I started losing weight again.

I wish you all the best.

Couldn’t disagree more.

Form Health. Takes insurance and my dr seems legit and you get a nutritionist as well. The dr spends way longer talking to me at each appointment about weight issues and medication than my PCP ever would. They require you to have a regular dr and get your records, so it’s not replacing your dr. They got Zepbound authorized in a matter of days with my insurance.

I’d take this any day of the week over an in person dr who doesn’t take insurance and forces you to get their compound. That’s a “full stop” no to me.

Many of the doctors at One Medical will prescribe weight loss meds if you meet the criteria. Even with the membership fee that’s less expensive than what you’re paying.
