Finally lost 5 pounds

Anonymous
I want to lose 10 pounds.

I finally lost 5 pounds.

I had to cut out most processed food. The only grain I eat is 1/2 cup of rolled overnight oats, occasionally a slice of sourdough bread, and every other day or so, quinoa, brown rice mixed with lentils.

I cut out pasta, pizza, and hamburger πŸ” buns and granola and cereal and popcorn with butter.

I added more fat like walnuts, pecans, avocado πŸ₯‘, and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. I added more leafy greens like steamed spinach and kale.

Instead of eating a cheeseburger, I ate turkey meatballs with steamed spinach and mushrooms with marinara sauce sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.

Or I microwaved an egg and steamed spinach and mushrooms with avocado πŸ₯‘ sourdough toast.

I have been full after meals.

The last 5 or 10 pounds are sometimes considered stubborn. The weight loss is slower at a pound a week. You can't restrict calories anymore. You have to eat more nutritious calories.

Anyone else relate?

I also started drinking 16 ounces of water in the morning before breakfast of rolled overnight oats and chia seeds Greek yogurt almond milk and fruit. I drink another 16 ounces of water before lunch.

The water has helped my skin and overall just helped me feel better.

Yes, I can relate.
But do you only need to lose 10 pounds total, or is this your final 10? I had - and have - much more to lose. Nevertheless, the 20# I lost began with doing similar things (eliminating/making rare soda and breads, adding more veggies and nuts and MUFAs, etc) and also walking 30-60 minutes 5 or more times a week.

But I've been stuck for a few years now and can't figure out how to start moving the needle again for the remaining 20-30#. Anyone have suggestions? (Other than weights, because I have shoulder and wrist tendon issues precluding that)

I only need to lose 10 pounds total. I am menopausal and the weight was sticking more than ever.

I am doing strength training exercises as well.

I really had to say goodbye to the processed food. It was difficult for me. I usually at in moderation and didn't gain weight. Not now as I have gone through menopause.

Can't relate at all. If I ate like you did before, I'd be 500 pounds. I eat what you eat now, but I'm still overweight.
I need to go down to 2 meals like fruit/vegetable snack, salad with protein and 2-hour cardio with some weights.

I microwave my eggs for scrambled eggs. They're fluffy and fast. I mix spinach and mushrooms with it.

Have you had a full blood panel/screening done? If you need to do a 2 hr workout and only eat fruit/vegetable snack and a salad with some protein in order to not be overweight....something seems off.

I did. Cholesterol is high, but just a little. I thought it was the genetics.
I just had something stressful happen that completely killed my appetite. I lost 5 pounds in 5 days or so. Trying to milk is as much as possible. Not in exercising mood at all unfortunately, but will walk the 10,000 steps to feel better.

Intermittent fasting worked for me, Jason Fung videos and podcasts and The Obesity Code from the library. Good luck!

I still eat the same things, just less and smaller portions of it. I also upper my exercise to 45-60 minutes a day of strength and HIIT. 2 days are β€œrest days” of 45-60 minute cardio and I lost 15 lbs. Still losing but mostly focusing on maintaining since my BMI was on the normal end when I started, but veering towards overweight.
