| Clubs are already posting interest forms for the 2025-26 season. We're not even halfway through this season yet! I don't remember all these ECNL/GA clubs having it this early in the past. What's going on? |
SY zealot starts a new thread |
| Correct. And technically, they can't until March. GA was early last year. |
No exactly. For example, VDA has this on their website: Any players currently in non-ECNL and non-ECNL RL club environments (such as GA, USYS, MLS Next), please contact us for tryouts prior to March 1, 2025. I guess VDA isn't happy with their teams and really wants to find some new players |
I thought the decision was no changes next year for school year. |
Everyone starts this now. Tryouts/ID session are not until March 1 but if they think they like someone they bring them into practice now. At our club offers would come from that not an open casting call ID session. |
I said the same thing, but in once sentence
|
|
So they can find someone new, cut currently players and give them time to go fund another team (after March 1).
They are trying to treat players humanely. |
| *find (but *fund also kinda true) |
Yes, on one level -- although typically the later tryouts are lesser leagues. What's super clear is the main motivation for seemingly earlier (and earlier) ID sessions/tryouts are more about trying to stay ahead of rival leagues/clubs. |
Yes. Take girls' ECNL here -- if there was a girl that was at that level -- say a GA girl then that girl would probably do anywhere 1-6 practices with our team over the winter. Offer would get made. Say we were Union. That girl is also doing the same at Arlington and maybe VDA or NVA. Offers will get made in the spring. You cannot sit on the offers or one of the other teams will grab them. I have seen an offer made at the first practice a girl attended. Some take longer. |
I don't know the exact reasons why it's starting earlier and earlier. But I'm sure clubs doing it because it is more considerate and humane to the existing players is not one of them. They will drop you in a minute if something shinier comes along. Even if you were that shiny thing not long ago. |
FVU has a similar note on its website: 2025 tryouts For those currently playing and registered to an ECNL Regional League or National League team, our player ID Sessions for the 2025-2026 season will be held in early March. Please visit our website in February with information on how to register. If you are currently playing on a team unaffiliated with the ECNL Regional or National League, please email admin@fvaunion.org We appreciate your interest in Fairfax VA Union! |
So ECNL RL kids can’t go to ID sessions until March 1? Always thought it was just for ECNL. |
have the same question, my daughter is GFR pre ECNL cannot try out to let's say VDA or Union ahead of March? |
