| One thing I've noticed about other cases with these charges is that the government will have grounds for a warrant to search the home and office of the defendant and often they find large quantities of child pornography. There doesn't seem to be any mention of Hoppe's home or office being searched. Also, the media will sometimes interview the defendant's neighbors, but that didn't seem to have happened either. |
| I wonder if she is housed with the j6 folks at the DC ctf or the general population. Who gave her their phone pin? What did they get in exchange? I bet she has a bigger commissary account than most... |
There’s not any prohibition on representing a family member and it is plausible that her father and brother are working with her defense counsel who is treating their conversations as privileged. Unless they are fact witnesses, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. An attorney can’t appear as an advocate in a matter in which they are a fact witness BUT I think even then it’s okay for them to be involved in privileged conversations. It’s common in corporate cases where the GC may be a fact witness and wouldn’t file an appearance d in the proceedings but would be involved in advising the defendant and would work with the retained defense counsel. |
Reply to this, if it's a brain tumor put her into some sort of mental institution rather than a jail. Otherwise lock her ass up |

The government has extended two plea offers to the defendant: the first offer is to one count of Coercion and Enticement (18 U.S.C. § 2422(b)); the second offer is a Rule 11(c)(1)(C) plea to Distribution of Child Pornography (18 U.S.C. § 2252(a)(2)) with an agreed upon sentence of 135 months’ incarceration followed by ten years of supervised release.
Both plea offers expire on April 17, 2024. The government has provided the defense with the plea paperwork for both offers and has informed the defense that the signed plea paperwork must be emailed to the government by April 17, 2024, and that there will be no further extensions. |
Did this come out of the status conference today? Would the sentences be concurrent? |

Hmmm. |

I don’t understand why her family seems to want anything to do with her still. Like they’re just visiting and supporting her despite her disgusting actions for which she has shown no remorse. I don’t know, I just don’t think I could associate with anyone who has done this, family or not.
I feel bad for her kids. What an embarrassing mom to have. |

I'm glad local media is staying focused, the quotes imply she is getting a tough sentence but press notes it appears to be under sentencing guidelines. Hope she is not getting some sweetheart deal.
Hope the dad moves with the kids and changes their names so they have a chance to move on. Have to wonder if they or their young friends or relatives may have been harmed by her too. |
This is what I don’t get (unless they’re delusional and truly believe she is innocent). I’d likely stand by a family member accused of money laundering, hell, based on the circumstances maybe even if they beat someone up. But this is just reprehensible and disgusting. |
I’m the PP you’re quoting and I’ll add that I don’t think I could live with myself if I had done something like this and it was international news. Just the amount of shame would make me want to end it all. Yet her mom is convincing her someone wants the book rights and she is acting as if she has some sort of future. Is this what it is like to grow up with so much money that you think this is just some blip in your life? If I were her ex and kids, I would stay as far away from her as possible. |
