Imagine being so cynical about government that you can’t even understand that the republicans don’t gain anything from this.

“Please send money because the Republican Party is in such chaos that we can’t even elect a Speaker” is a terrible fundraising message and in no way intentional.

Some Republicans are fundraising on the backs of this, I believe.

No, this is not true. Democrats won't vote for an election saboteur nor someone who will not partner in good faith. If GOP put up one of the handful of non-election deniers a Speaker, Dem would consider it.

NP. The point is that the line of succession was changed from Sec.of State, 2nd in line, to Speaker because it was thought that it should be someone who had been elected,by the people.

Next time maybe you should know what you're talking about before castigating someone else.

Everyone knows the speaker doesn't need to be a representative. Upton could not get republican votes because he is considered to be a traitor by the party.
