| How strict is Jefferson Cup on Stay to Play? Do they actually follow up if you don't book through them? |
| Each team has to book a minimum number of rooms - you just need to find out what that minimum is. But if you're DMV, you don't have to stay I don't think. |
| They are very strict and will check. We had to pay a fine. |

Lets put it this way. Your local tournament that scrounges to have competitive brackets - may have to look the other way on enforcing Stay to play.
Jeff Cup that hosts four weekends of events, hundreds of teams, and rejects almost half the teams that apply - they can and will enforce stay too play because if they catch you and kick you out, there is a line of teams waiting to fill your spot. |
| Thanks everyone. Apparently we are 8 miles over qualifying as a commuter team. Thankfully they only require half the team to book. |
| Bruh I hate these tournaments doing the stay to play money grab |
| Definitely one of the worst parts of youth sports. My son's team did Jeff Cup last year and the hotel was a total sh*t show. |
| Agree PP. Pot stench everywhere. My girls were close to vomiting. |
| Don't risk it, they have a wait list and will happily boot you if you don't stay in their hotels. Also, book early or you'll regret the dumps that are left. |
| We had a halfway decent hotel for Jeff Cup. No on I’d pick myself but it was clean. In general I hate the stay to play idea too. Let families pick the hotel that’s in their price point and meets their needs. We had lots of unaccompanied players and a I suspect it was due to the cost. |
If there were no pay to play, the entrance fees would need to be much higher. Would you prefer to pay $2000-$3000 per team but have no pay to play? Either way, you will be paying it somewhere because tournaments are not free to put on. Everyone wants something for nothing. |
why do you need to impose where people stay? Accommodation should not have anything with tournament entry price! The tournament is charging whatever amount they need/want to charge and on top of it depending teams to stay at specific hotels! Money exchange between tournaments and travel agencies! |
| Anyone know when the list of accepted teams for all age groups is supposed to be published? |
Call your congressman. Call HBO Real sports- something is warped about Anthony travel - the company that enforces this stay to play rule. |
Yes, I prefer that model. Don't hide behind a lower tournament fee and then make it up on the back end. Don't get me started on the cost for parking. . . |
