Need help with classic boy names.
Names we like: Patrick, John, Benjamin, Christopher. But can’t both solidly agree on one. Suggestions? |
They’re all nice. What’s the middle name? I also like Peter, Charles, and Alexander for classic names. |
Thomas
Edward Matthew I love the name Theodore, fwiw. |
Johnathan |
Benjamin and Charles are great choices. Theodore only if you'll call him Theo. NOT Ted or Teddy. Those are awful. |
Nicholas |
Dick |
Those are all good names. Is baby here? Why not wait until he gets here and see what he looks like/what he thinks? For my kid, we thought we like name A best. So the day after his birth, I held him when he was calm, fed and awake, and I asked him: are you name A? And he started screaming. I mean screaming. So I said, okay, will try again later. I tried again a few hours later and asked him: are you A and he started screaming again! So DH and I said, never mind, clearly not. Then again a few hours later, well fed, calm and awake I asked are you B and he cuddled into my arm and fell asleep. So his name is B. |
I love all those names. Would’ve used Patrick, but we have multiple in the family, and DH didn’t want to name after those particular relatives.
Anecdotally I think Benjamin is the most common around here for young kids. DS seems to always have 1-2 Bens on his sports teams. If that doesn’t bother you, I think it’s a great name! |
Andrew |
Andrew (nn Drew)
Brian or Brendan Christopher or Christian Daniel Evan Finn Grant or Graham Henry Ian Josh Kevin Logan Matthew or Martin Noah Owen Philip Quint Robert Sam Thomas William or Wyatt |
I really dislike Christopher and I don't like the nickname Pat. So I would immediately narrow it down to John or Benjamin. I like Ben a lot, so probably would pick that. But John is nice too.
Some other classic names I like: Robert/Rob Peter Nathan James Thomas |
Paul
Nicholas Andrew James |
I'm all in on British royalty names
Charles Henry Richard George Alfred Edward William |
I love Nicholas and think Paul is due for a comeback. I also like Philip and Xavier. |
