If you want to back out of a space, you must wait. You don’t get to just start backing out and force everyone to stop and wait while you back out, then pull in slightly to change the angle, then back out again, then straighten out, then back up again and then finally pull forward.
Seriously, WTH is wrong with you people? You just start backing out without even looking or waiting. Everyone will stop for YOU. |
| I drive a sedan. If SUV’s surround me, I MUST start to back up to be able to see if another vehicle is coming. Yes, I have a back up camera now, but I didn’t always. |
| How does backerupper know if you’re stopping for them or waiting for spot? |
| Sometimes the cars keep coming and you’re forced to just make a move. The best is when this happens in a church parking lot after service and the churchgoers refuse to let anyone out. So much for kindness. |
You use your neck, turn around and look. You use your rear view mirrors. I have never just backed out without looking. You are the problem |
You don’t realize that sometimes there will be no car immediately there but people will accelerate to make sure you don’t pull out all the way once they see you’ve started and they might have to wait a few seconds. |
| yea this is happening a lot these days so many as******. |
| How do you know they are not looking? Maybe they are. |

I'd like to know why when I am leaving a store, do people continue to walk behind me when I am backing out of a space? I presume that they have parked their vehicle in a parking space, so I wonder if they would appreciate it if I slowly walked behind them as they were backing out?
Personally, I stop when I see someone backing out. It's called courtesy and treating someone the way you would like to be treated. |
This. It used to be that you wait for your moment but that cars stopped and let you back out. Now people don’t wait for a car. I find it rude. |
If you back into the space you have a clearly defined, small area you need to see into. It positions you closest to the cross traffic of the parking lot and also allows you to drive forward with increased visibility when leaving the space. If you pull forward into the space it sets you up for the least visibility when leaving - cars or SUVs potentially on both sides of you + needing to turn around for an obstructed view backwar, left and right from a position furthest away from traffic lane. With SUVs and hatchbacks, there's an argument for pulling forward into the space because you need clearance for your rear hatch to swing open, but with a sedan that's not the case. Backing into the space is safest for all. |
You need to back into your parking so you can look before you pull out. You are a dangerous drivrr |
Yes, you WILL stop for me when I back out. I’m in charge. |
Then you block your access to the trunk if someone else is parked in back of you. |
