| My child toured UVA this weekend, and at the information session, I was surprised to hear that UVA had yet to decide on testing for the fall of 2026 admits. Does anyone have any insight? Do you think they will return to test-required as other schools have? I don't have a strong feeling about this one way or the other. I'm just curious. |
| How the heck would we know? |
| I wouldn't be surprised if they return to test required. If you look at their common data set, even during the TO period, they tend to accept a high percentage of student who submit scores. |
No real insight, but the presentation at our recent tour sounded like there will be an announcement. Announcing the future announcement made me feel like there will be some change though I’m not sure that it will be requiring SAT/ACT. |
I would agree that this sounds like an impending annoucement. If not test required, maybe it will be test recommended. |
They have already said they will announce in January. I am hoping for test required. That will be good news for the 1400+ kids. |
| The elite schools have been tossing out TO for a year now. UVA is T24. It's just a matter of time. The fact they are leaving it open on tour is telling you millions |
Let’s hope. |
what would 25/50/75 be then for 26? |
| TO was never really TO outside of the COVID years. |
| UVA called my kid and told them they were going test optional. |
| Watch Dean J. There’s a committee making the decision in January. They never used test scores heavily because their pool does coursework more advanced than the SAT, especially in math. |
What are the non-Ivies ranked below 10 that have gone back to test-required? Florida, Georgia, Purdue? Not really the schools UVA would identify as peers. |
^ Can't speak to UVA specifically but FYI as a reference point, for seniors applying NOW for Fall 2025 admission, UNC Chapel Hill did not confirm test optional for that class until this past May 2024. Apparently, UNC wanted as much data as possible because: A) they wanted to see results from the 2023-24 admission cycle; and, B) they wanted to see how kids on campus who were admitted test optional did in class/grades vs those who submitted scores. I know you asked about UVA but wouldn't be surprised if UVA may be thinking similarly. |
