If you love someone can you lie to them?

Could someone carry on a long term emotional affair, say I love you to the affair partner and still love their spouse?

Ok, if the spouse notices coldness and distance during the affair and asks if they are seeing someone and the spouse having the affair lies repeatedly can they still love the person they are lying to?

Love is respect, so no.

Sure, I fully believe you can love more than one person. I also believe you can love someone and still lie to them. People are emotionally complicated.

But I'm not sure that's what you're really asking, OP. To me, the question isn't whether your spouse can love more than one person. The question is whether you should be with a person who loves you but chooses to engage in a relationship with someone else and then to lie to you about it. For me, that would be a hard no.

Men will say ILY as an act to get side sex and keep it going. And then when caught suddenly throw that person under the bus, call them names and treat them like crap, ghost.

I don't understand why people in deep mental distress think they can come to DCUM for subtextual therapy.

You can have feelings of love and emotional attachment to more than one person. But love is also an action not just a feeling. So I would argue that lying is not concord at with love (the verb).
