I stopped in Starbucks this morning and I was baffled to see people standing in line.
Why would you do that rather than use the app? Even if you spontaneously decide to stop in, why would you wait in line? Why not order on the app and get to sit somewhere comfortable or whatever? I’m genuinely curious about why there are still app hold outs. Ordering at the register seems like the same experience but worse in every way. The line, verbally transmitting the order, why do that? |
| Yuck why are you comsuming anything from Starbucks in the first place? I would never. |
| I only go to Starbucks 1-2x per year. |
Honestly it’s mostly because of the app. And the parking. I have a fancy local coffee shop but it has limited parking and long lines and no order ahead. |

I'm a teacher, and I go to Starbucks when I get a gift card. I might buy something, and then give the rest to one of my kids to use, so I don't want to attach the gift card to an app. So, I go in person.
Also, I don't really like their drinks, so I usually get something to eat and an ice water. I like to see the options. |
This. If I end up there it is because there are literally no other options so I don’t need the app |
| Sometimes I don't know what I want or I have time to kill so I order in store and use the app to pay. |
| My app has never worked right. Despite multiple contacts with customer service, I cannot add a gift card to my account and I only go there when I have a gift card. |
| Barista knows my order. We make pleasant small talk, if she isn't busy. I like to practice my people skills since I don't get to do that often here. |
This. I may go once or twice a year, but only if there are no other options. I also only get coffee-no milkshake like drink so I order and they hand it to me directly. No waiting at all. I'd be behind your 6-pump, nonfat, chia tea, acacia calorie bomb if I used the app. I'm good speaking with another human. |
| Because I like to pay in cash. |
| For some of the stores I frequent, in person orders get priority before those coming in via mobile order. It depends on the staffing level that day. |
Why are you opening a post about Starbucks if you never go there? 🙄 |
|
I only go to Starbucks in places I don't know while on travel. Then I can't be bothered with the app because I don't know which Starbucks is the right one and it's more of a pita.
I also drink cofffee, not the weird pseudo coffee pumpkin caramel things. |
This is what it comes down to for me. How are we better off by increasingly avoiding people? And research has shown these small interactions are protective measures against depressive feelings. |
