At least on the girls side?
I have no info, but seeing how Coppermine just moved over, wondering if they are next. |
| Probably not because boys have MLSN and lets be honest thats a boys club so no ECNL for Armour |
Coppermine just recently joined RL just for boys. Doubtful Armour is following especially since they're MLSN on the boys side. |
|
Unless something changed, I thought a club could only be admitted to ECNL (RL) if they could field both boys and girls competitive teams from U11 to U19.
I don't think they would allow girls only with boys participating in MLS Next? |
I don't know if it has to be both genders, I think they just need to fill the age groups. For example, a few years back PWSI couldn't field a team for one age group in RL on the girls side so they had a team from Maryland fill it. https://www.copperminesoccer.com/central#1306626642 |
OP here. Not sure, but Potomac has only its boys side participating. |
Oh that's fascinating! |
But MD doesn't have an RL only league the way VA does, right? I mean, the only MD RL teams for the girls are BSC, MD United, and Coppermine I think... |
| Coppermine is GA for girls. Did you mean Md United? And yes Maryland only has the three and people drive hours to PA and NJ for games that sometimes aren’t any better than non-ECNL clubs they could play in their own backyard. North Atlantic RL is one of the dumbest things ever, logistically speaking. |
Sorry- meant Pipeline... they blend in my mind! Agree about NA RL - insanity, especially when VA teams get to travel 20 min for the same thing (albeit of more varying quality). |
|
Notice how if a club has GA and they're looking for a league to play in on the boys side that ECNL only let's the boys play in ECRL. Also ECNL doesn't let the girls into ECNL. Most likely ECNL wants the club to go ECRL on the girls side and drop GA and go ECRL as well. The club is probably trying to get into MLS Next for boys and will be fine with GA.
It's ridiculous that clubs have to play these type of games just to get into leagues. |
To clarify one thing -- Potomac was let into the boys side in ECNL (not RL). FWIW https://theecnl.com/sports/2023/8/8/ECNLB_0808235510.aspx |
North Atlantic division is where MD teams play RL. |
That either means boys ECNL is desperate for clubs. Or that ECNL is starting to be less annoying about playing the girls ECNL card. Judging from ECNLs history my guess is that boys ECNL is in trouble + looking for clubs. |
Right, but there aren't any North Atlantic RL teams that don't have a national ECNL top team. https://theecnl.com/sports/2023/7/6/directory.aspx That's different than VA/NJ/NY/OH etc... where there are large leagues of RL-only teams that don't have an ECNL top team. |
