Scheduling an intro class soon but I wanted to know if the cost is worth the benefit? Are pure barre classes more expensive because you see results quicker? Is there another that is better or is it just between pure barre and the gym? |
You can take a zoom double barre class from a ballet school.
I take the one from ballet art (nyc) and it’s $50 for 5 class. If you have pure barre money just do orange theory or F45, yields better results. |
What results are you looking for? It will NOT help you drop weight. If you want to look more toned, Barre will only do that if you already have lean body mass and not a lot of fat. If you have visible fat, you will develop strength from PB but not visible muscle because it really works small tiny muscles . For most women, investing time and money into lifting heavy weights 3-4 times a week is going to be better for health and fitness overall. You will not build muscle mass at PB or burn many calories. I did about 100 classes and then stopped because the schedule changed and didn’t suit mine anymore. It was what I considered a “rest” day from my real workouts. |
Yes Barre alone will not reallybhelp you drop weight if yiu have 20+ lbs to lose. I suppose if you did it 5x a week and really worked on your diet, plus maybe did 1-3 mile walks daily it could work.
But for weight loss you will need a combo of intense cardio and some weight bearing exercise, and diet. I would spend the money on a personal trainer and a nutrition coach instead. |
It's worth it if you like it. You just have to find the exercise that you love enough to keep doing, and look forward to. I am always excited to go for a run. |
Barre was transformative for me, but it's not everyone's cup of tea. If you like it after the intro class, give it a couple of months of regular attendance to see if you're feeling the benefits before you commit to the membership. |
Worth it how? It is worth it for me because I like it and will actually do it. However, my goal is to be non-sedentary, not to lose weight. |
Only you can determine if it’s worth it. If you enjoy it and regularly go then yes it’s worth it. I spend a small fortune on boutique classes and for me it’s worth it. I go 5-6 days a week consistently.
Barre is not going to help you lose weight. It will tone you up but it’s not expensive because it helps you lose weight. It’s just expensive. Most of the boutique classes are. You just have to figure out if it’s worth it to you. |
Interesting that everyone is saying you won't lose weight. I just completed their 60 day challenge (30 classes in 60 days) and am down 10 pounds since end of August. I am 5'8 and weigh 165 so did have a few pounds to lose.
I go 4-5x a week so not a huge commitment. Not only that but I am a lot stronger and enjoy waking up to go to Barre class. I've done Orangetheory and was always dragging myself to get to those classes. |
Did you find it more challenging than Orangetheory? |
Pure barre could not be any more different than working out in a gym! What exactly are you looking for and what are you doing at the gym now? |
They’re challenging in different ways, not even comparable. Barre requires you to hold very tight moves with perfect muscle control for long periods of time but you’re barely even twitching or raising your leg in these positions. Orangetheory will have you gutting it out in a rower for 12 minutes straight and then hopping to other circuits. |
Pure Barre is boring and not worth it. |
+100 |
Yeah I’m not a fan. I like to sweat when I workout. BUT everyone is different. If that’s your thing then it might be worth it. |
