“Dinner” - an hour before bed

Anonymous
23 yo working long hours & not in setting where can sit & eat.

Gets home at 10 ravenous. Goes to bed 11/11:30.

What is something filling but not heavy for good dinner?

Toast & peanut butter not cutting it 1 even with banana on top. lol

Make sure you’re eating veggies for lunch and snacks. Then have a nice bowl of cereal for dinner. A lot more filling and satisfying than toast.

Can't even have a nutty bar and some fruit at work?

Veggie omelet and toast with avocado? Protein plus fat.

Just let him eat a normal dinner. Not sure why going to bed an hour and a half later matters. I get for older folks - makes it harder to sleep and causes indigestion. But for a 23 year old? I would just heat up what was for dinner.

Agreed. The poster above who said cereal? That’s insane for dinner on a regular basis.

At 23 this is an issue they should be capable of dealing with themselves.

Agree. My 18 year old figures this out on their own when their shift ends at 11pm some nights.I have no clue what she eats before she goes to bed.

Cereal is not filling. It is the definition of quick sugar high. Better to do scrambled eggs and avocado toast for dinner.

Pack food to eat before commuting home.

Is OP the 23 year old or the parent? If the parent, as long as you know there is food available that’s all you need to think about.

If the young adult, try to plan to have easily prepared and easy clean up meals ready to go as soon as you get home.

Just a regular dinner, maybe nothing spicy or with a lot of fat.
