I just did it recently, well twice actually. Cold turkey. And both times was extremely sick for days as I detoxed. I just remind myself of that and back away.

What is keeping you from going back? I have been successful for a week or 2 but always give in again.

I had a way easier time giving up alcohol.

. Just curious -- how many sweets were you consuming? Was it a lot of candy? Cakes/cookies? Would like to know what level of sugar consumption would trigger withdrawal symptoms.

It's not that person was "detoxing", they were just experiencing the malaise that happens when you convert to "Keto" and start using more fat as fuel to make glucose.

PP is repeatedly quitting. That means they are going back.

1. Diet starts in the grocery store.

2. Repeat the mantra: sugar is poison.

3. Eat proper food and drink a lot of water before you get stuck at a party.

4. At home, pack it up and hide it away. Give it away if you can. Throw it away if you can.

Sprinkle hot pepper powder on your sweets. That will slow you down.

I am addicted to sugar. It’s horrid. I binge on it at night. I am only successful in avoiding it if I keep it out of the house.

Don't know what your usual diet is, OP. But if you eat a lot of processed foods, white flour goods, etc., start by changing your diet. Eat more fruits and vegetables, drink only water, more nuts and seeds, and grab some DARK chocolate - the darkest you can stand - instead of any other sweet. Over time, your tastes and cravings will change; but as soon as you have another soda or piece of non-dark chocolate candy, or start having too much white flour pasta/breads again, you'll revert.

Dates! they are the best. When ever you need something sweet then eat some Dates - they are sweeter than many sweets.

Eat a low sugar breakfast every day to start things off right.

Brush your teeth or use mouthwash after each meal.

If I know I’ll eat more, I skip breakfast and have black coffee instead. Caffeine in coffee suppresses my appetite so I just drink a lot of it.
