They haven't killed the idea yet, so that is saying something. |
I do not think p2p MLSN is bold enough to stay in BY alone. The potential risk to their business bottom line is too much to take a chance. Hope we will know it soon. |
Their bottom line is having top players play in showcases. They offer biobanding so they basically can make the teams whatever they want already. |
I could see a world where even Academy's up until U15/U16 are somewhat SY even if it's not called that. MLSN doesn't even keep standings until U15, so that gives academies time to identify the Q4 talent that will stick and then move them to more of a BY model after U15. |
| Are there really any rules around biobanding ? Or is it the wild wild West? |

This thread has lost it usefulness. It seems some just want to hit 1000!
There are other threads popping up and hopefully more soon that can be most specific to each person's concerns. A lot of the fighting going on here is from parents with completely different interests which makes zero sense. Some have boys, some girls, some younger and older. One post will say ECNL sucks and MLS is so much better and the next will say the opposite. Know what? You can both be completely correct depending on gender, age, location, etc. Time for this thread to die. Wish you all the best and see you in other threads. |
wrong, their bottom line is to make more money, that is why they focus on recruiting. They are no different than those pyramid schemes. You are glorying them "having top players play in showcases". That is their PR, so they can grow their revenue. |
I have been trying to find information on it, and it is sparse online, but from what I gather you have to fill out some forms and MLSN blesses it. I don't know how scientific it is. |

There is no way to accuratly do this in the US. Some players dont know how tall their parents are some poeple will lie.
It needs to be tied to a birthdate. |
There are some rules around late developers, one being teams are only allowed 3 players and they must be considered core players on the team that they are playing down with. You are only allowed 14 core players so there are some limitations. |
You'll be back! This is the grandfather of all other BY/SY threads, the ultimate one. |
Someone said as much a couple hundred pages back, no real rules other than kids can only go back one year and only 3 per team. The team filled out the bulk of the paper work for the person explaining the process. Teams offered late developer slots as a recruiting tool. Note that the late developers exceptions are not suppose to be for small players. They are suppose to be for late developers. Measuring development can be controversial so in essence nobody can be caught abusing the system. |
Haters gonna hate. Don’t poo poo on us and our march to 1000!! |

What do you think might happen at page 1k? This is Y2K all over again. What if the page count resets to 0? I cant wait to see. |
