After switching to SY, only the top current Q1/Q2 will survive after two seasons in the ECNL/MLS team. Most Q1/Q2 will be demoted to the second team. Like the current very few Q3/Q4, who still remain in the ECNL/MLS team, they will dominate the younger group. This is a statistical fact. BY parents try mental gymnastics very hard to convince themself this would not happen or that somehow P2P MLS and GA will still stay in BY.

sure pal. "well hop over to GA" ...give me $100 on things that won't happen. lmao GA hats

If anything, GA has left their future plans more uncertain, which is a turn off. If you go to an ECNL or USYS club, you at least have some idea of what you'll face in 26-27.

It’s only uncertain if you need them to tell you they’re business as usual. No offense, but you’re not that important, they’re not going to send out a press release saying “we’re still in business” ever morning, why would expect them to send out one saying “nothing has changed.”

The member orgs that made changes announced their changes…that’s how things work.

This makes no sense. You're saying that their silence indicates some certainty of staying BY. In the face of a major announcement by US Soccer that leagues will be able to choose for themselves, there is uncertainty around every league until they affirm a change OR staying as-is. Silence would normally indicate they are continuing business as usual, but you're ignoring that the landscape has changed due to the US Soccer announcement. Maybe you're just wishing that GA stays BY?

Where is the guidance from USSF? We are supposed to be getting a webpage designed to keep track of leagues and what their registration process will be. I highly doubt that MLSN/GA are going to be exempt from that.

GA adding biobanding. Same with MLS2 and Aspire.

Where did you hear that about biobanding?

Like the current very few Q3/Q4, who still remain in the ECNL/MLS team, they will dominate the younger group. This is a statistical fact. BY parents try mental gymnastics very hard to convince themself this would not happen or that somehow P2P MLS and GA will still stay in BY.

This is less of a concern for older teams, as the population of elite Q3/4's is by now much lower than it would be if each Q was represented equally. That is, for every Q1/Q2 that is on a team, only .33 of a Q3/Q4 exists to take their spot.

I would say it's even less than that. In my area it's probably less than 10%.

How is this relevant to the age change discussion?

This is true… Also ECNL is going to 9/1 in 26/27 so why even have this forum? Unless we all just need a place to vent.

Here is the reason: we are all waiting to hear if US Club, USYS and AYSO make "transitional rules" for 25/26. Many assume literally nothing will change until 26/27. But most of those are people who want everything to stay the same for 18 months. My guess is there is a joint statement on transitional rules in the next month or two.

I am a SY person that wants everything to change in 25/26. ECNL is not making any changes until 26/27. It’s so dumb for so many reasons, but it’s just the facts confirmed by an ECNL board member. I do agree with the people that say if that’s the case, why hasn’t ECNL just come out to officially announce that, beyond the US Club statement.

What is the name of the ECNL board member? We can confirm it with him or her ourselves. Thanks.

True but alot of these kids are not on 1st teams and want to be. They are at smaller clubs with other kids who are Q3/4 They could easily have 25 show up at a tryout for a tier one program looking for 15 spots.

My kid is a Q4 kid at the top of her U11 program, and there are already VERY few of them. Like 3 or 4 total on the top two teams combined. DOC has already approached us about making a SY team for next year and playing them up U12, before just playing U12 again as their true age in 26/27.

Is this a DMV club? I'm curious if any local clubs are this organized and could be worth reaching out to.

Basically after switching to SY, you are switching 3/4 Q3/Q4 in top team to 3/4 Q1/Q2 in a top team, so the current 8/9 Q1/Q2 will be demoted. The odd is not in BY parents favor. They hope MLS or GA will stay in BY. But I doubt any P2P club will stay in BY that can lose 35% Q3/Q4 revenue.

Q1 will still be fine. June/July/Aug will become the lowest represented.

Yeah, my son is U11 September 23rd, the youngest of his team.

Obvioulsy I will choose for him a SY platform, the best one in my area I think is ECNL.

Bye bye to MLSNext, if they keep BY.

No problem, his goal is college, no pro.

Why wouldn’t ECNL have a biobanding equivalent for all age groups to address the late summer birthday kids who are otherwise forced to play with the grade above them based on 9/1 cutoff date? Removes continued trap player headaches.
Anonymous
You can think of switching to SY. The ECNL acts like a youth soccer market disrupter. If you view youth soccer as a business for those p2p clubs, which runs like a business under the name of youth soccer development, then p2p MLS can not allow this uncertainty to exist. They either kill it or become part of it, so they can minimize the uncertainty and still maintain their status quo.
