If you were new to DC and not from an area with a lot of mass transit, and one that was pretty homogeneous I think that the guidelines would really help. It's just that it's easy to make fun of the Tea Party folks but it all really makes sense. |
I do not think that it is accurate. |
Yes, OP, you are the only one. |
It would have been more clear to just say "when riding the metro, never ride past the last stop where all the white people get off."
And, I'm sure you're not the only one, many people who live in those areas feel the same way. Especially about the green line, which is fine by me because it means I won't have to be bothered by scared kooks in my neighborhood. |
I agree OP. Most people can't see past their hatred to make a sound judgment. |
No, obviously there are a lot of fearful people who don't know the city too well. Not just you. |
I just find it hilarious that the Tea Party folks are being advised to avoid the yellow and green lines - that means they would have to avoid the Archives/Navy Memorial/Penn Quarter stop. I wonder if they realize that the Constitution that they claim to hold so dear is on display at the Archives? |
Do you mean accurate as in funny in a sad racist way? Then yes, OP, I'm with you and the tea party. |
No I mean accurate in what most tourists do when they come to DC or ask their friends for advice. I mean accurate in what most suburban dwellers, hell most DC residents do when they are in the city. |
I don't know whether it's accurate or not, but like other PPs, I'm just as happy if the TPers restrict themselves to their protected enclaves for the weekend. Although I confess, riding the metro with all of these very nervous people is great sport.
-Another resident who lives on the Green Line. |
If I were black, I'd have so much fun riding around trying to look bug-eyed and muttering about my machete. (That was my favorite part of the advice, actually, to not risk asking any African or Afro-Caribbean people where they are from, because they could get "touchy," which can only be code for "crazy and violent," right?) |
"Most DC residents"? Do you realize that the majority of the city lives east of 14th St.? How are these people able to avoid their own homes & families? |
OP did you read the guidelines that you think are accurate? I'd love for you to answer the PP from 14:28. |
I'm avoiding metro these days- two mass fights in one summer, plus all the other issues . Who wants to deal? |
I'm looking forward to riding metro, and blocking the tea-partiers at the doors. After all, it is a publicly funded system, and if they're on metro at all, it must be by accident. So I'll just do them the favor of making sure they don't inadvertently take advantage of such a blatant tax-grab. |
